In April of this year, our
Association voted to enter into
a partnership with Stephen
Marshall and Action Bible
Fellowship located in Lyon,
France. Due to this partnership,
David Bird, Missions Minister
from The Ridge Church, and I
traveled to France to learn
more about their ministry and
discover how
DBA could
better partner
with them.
Stephen served
here in the
Denton Association at Trinity
Valley Church while he was
going to Southwestern
Seminary.
Stephen, a missionary kid,
sensed that God was calling
him to go back to the country
where he was raised to plant

rented dance studio. The Sunday we
visited, they had 30 adults and 23
children in attendance. On
Wednesday, we participated in a block
party complete with inflatable bounce
houses, cotton candy, face painting,
and baseball. Halfway through the
event, Stéphane had every student sit
down. When they were all quiet, he
shared with the children and their
parents about the love of Christ and
their need for a relationship with him.
God is truly blessing the work there.
Jeremie Biancherie and his wife
Doriane are another planting couple in
a community not
far from Pont de
Cheruy called
Trevoux.
Jeremie, an
engineer by
trade, and his
wife Doriane, a dermatologist, sensed
that God was calling them to start a
church in this bedroom community.
Jeremie quit his lucrative job and
Doriane reduced her work schedule as
a skin doctor to four hours a week.
Since moving to the area about six
months ago, they started a Bible Study
in their new neighborhood and have
approximately 30 people attending.
The day we were there, we met a
potter and sculptor who Jeremie is
building relationships with in order to
share Christ with them.
The third plant, led by JB (Jean Benoit)
and his wife Benedicte, is located in a
resort
community.
They have
been there
for two
years and have developed a significant
churches. He, his wife Sabrina, and
their four boys have moved to a suburb
of Lyon. Each day
Stephen commutes
back into the city to
pastor his church.
Stephen has led
his church to develop a strategy for
reaching the lost people of that part of
France. French statistics tell us that
less than 2% of the French population
would be classified as evangelical
Christian. Other statistics suggest that
close to 70-80% of the population
would call themselves culturally
Catholic. While there are several
Catholic churches that dot the
landscape of the French countryside
and cities, many of them are vacant
and sparsely attended. Most people
would consider themselves Catholic in
name only. The people have lost their
way and they are far from God.
Stephen’s church and another
evangelical church have partnered
together to start 1 church for every
10,000 people. Several churches in
Denton Baptist Association have also
partnered with these believers to see
the kingdom of God expand in France.
The fruit of their labor has resulted in
the birth of three church plants in the
last three years.
Stéphane
Kapitaniuk and his
wife Hanna are
church planters of
the largest plant
which is located in
Pont de Cheruy.
His congregation was started two
years ago and meets on Sundays in a
(Continued from page 1) youth ministry. We hosted a block
party in the resort for two days. While I
was helping with the baseball clinic, I
noticed a young Muslim girl and her
brother happily playing. It was
amazing to realize that we were
showing and sharing the love of Christ
with this young lady and her family who
were participating in Ramadan.
Throughout the week I was reminded
that the gospel must be shared with
people who are in need of a Savior.
As your Executive Director I want to
challenge your church to find a people
group outside of the US that you will
partner with to share the gospel. I
know many of
you have
already
identified a
group that you
are reaching
and I
encourage
you to
continue to stay involved with those
who serve there.
For those not currently connected to a
group outside America, let me
encourage you to pray about
partnering with DBA as we reach out to
France over the next few years. Please
contact me [email protected]
to see how you or your church can get
involved with the mission work in
France.
