³Malcolm put me down, please! I don¶t see why you have to take me home I canwalk´ I said Malcolm had gone to cheek on me and I hadn¶t been in my bedroom. He

had known where I would be because Im there every day, he had found me in theforest. ³no Emily gab will be back soon and he will see that I have done a bad job

again like I do all the time and he will get angry at you and I don¶t like it when he is

angry´ he said, he put me down when we were near home I gave him a hug because I

felt bad for running off on him. ³Im sorry mal but the wolves they were calling methey told me something but you don¶t have to worry okay? I love you for being you

and that¶s why you are my best brother´ I said he know what I meant.

³It okay. Thank you Emily I¶m here to help´ he said hugging me back, we both

started laughing. I could hear a noise I ran to the still laughing and opened it. ³Hello

gab how was your trip?´ I asked just as he got to the door, ³it was great´ he said with

a smile. I gave him a big smile and a hug ³it¶s good to have you back´ I said I had

only gone with him a few times mal hated it when I did but he understood why I had

to go, when he went be himself He went to place where he could find inner peace. I

never wanted to put you through this Im sorry Emily for what I have done you will never know how sorry.

³gab why are you thinking of the night we meet´ I asked I could see in his head what

had happened when had first meet, after that the very last time we meet he hadsomething he thought the worst and had never forgiven himself it hurt to see him like

this, he had not wanted to do what he had but he saw so much pain he could not standto see me like that so he wanted it to stop for me. ³Because no matter how many times

I try I can¶t forget how much pain you were in and how much pain I put you through´

he said with sadness in his eyes. I gave him a bigger hug ³but if you hadn¶t of saved

me then I would be dead´ I said ³thank you how have you been?´ he asked ³not well

when you are gone I can¶t do anything I feel ill and the wolves they are moving

because of the snow so I felt very empty´ I said I sat on the floor he know it was hard

for me but it was his job. He sat next to me and hugged me. Mal come over at sat on

the other side of me. We sat like that all night.

We just stayed up talking about things he had done when he was gone and this that

had happened many years ago. The sun can up and we had to get ready for school

well me and Malcolm had to. We got in my mustang, we were in year 11, we know

everything but we just went so we would have something to do. I had about ten guys

at school who all thought I was good looking. They didn¶t come near me because Ihad Malcolm with me and they were all scared of him I had first two off today so I

was going to the library.

When I was off I helped Arthur in the library he help and looked out for me too. I was

finishing some work for cooking, Arthur can over and sat next to me ³hey Emily can Iask you something´ he said I know what he wanted to know he wanted to know if Gabriel was back. ³Sure what is it?´ I said ³is Gabriel back yet because you had been

looking sad?´ he said I smiled ³yes he is thanks for worrying about me´ I said he was

one of the boys who like me but I was grateful he was my friend as well, being me I

didn¶t have many friends so I had to keep the few I had close.

We had a few laughs and then it was first break. We went out and as always Malcolm

was waiting for me I said see ya to Arthur and followed Malcolm. ³I don¶t like that



boy, Emily you know that so please hear me when I say this be careful. I don¶t wantto see you get hurt´ he said that made me laugh Emily be careful please not just for

me but for gab he said in his thought that made me stop ³sorry I will you I will I haveto go I will see you later´ I said I gave him a kiss on the check look after yourself and

have fun cooking crap he said I laughed so loud I think the wolves would of heard me.

I got to class put in what I had done in the library and take my place I was gettingready when I heard a voice I hadn¶t before it made stop and turn around there was a

new kid in the class. He was very different from the other people he didn¶t think about

what most boys were think ³mis.arlon can you please show our new student around

the kitchen and he will be working with you today thank you´ Mr. Edgewood said

³sorry yes sir´ I said I went up the front and greeted the new kid. ³Hi Im Emily and

well I will be showing you around´ I said I heard people calling me a freak in their

heads but I just forgot they were there. ³Hi there Im Jacob Im the new kid´ he said

she already knows that oh man I don¶t know what to do I will do as Im told. Oh man I

hope I get a friend today. I turned around and smiled I saw him everything that we

know about and told him about what we were still to learn. When I was doing thisthree people tried to trip me I had to fake one and Jacob help me up he was very nice.

It was the end of class and Jacob looked like he was going to pass out. ³Hey are you

okay?´ I asked I know he wasn¶t but I was nice to ask people sometimes. ³Um I guessI don¶t know Im sorry Im just a bit nerves´ he said ³it cool we all go through it´

unless you go through it hundreds of time I didn¶t add out loud ³well do you want meto show you around?´ I asked I think he needed someone there for him. ³Yes please´

he said I saw a flicker of happiness when I asked. We were talking on the way out

when I stopped I could smell blood and I didn¶t know where it was but I could smell

it. ³Hey, hellos are you okay?´ Jacob asked ³I looked at him ³Im sorry I have to do

something I will get someone to find you´ I said I got out of there as fast as I could I

went to the other side of the school. Emily where are you? Please answer me I don¶t

want to have to go home and tell gab I lost you again. ³Im over here mal´ I said I

know he could hear me I just stayed where I was. ³Hey what happened?´ he said

coming close ³I could smell it I didn¶t know where it can from but I could smell it´ I

³What are you doing?´ he asked turning around, ³I said it before and Im saying it

again I will stay at school´ I said he just looked at me. ³Fine but don¶t come runningto me when you can¶t do anything for yourself´ he said storming off. ³Fine´ I sat

down and closed my eyes I heard Jacob come up behind me ³who was that?´ he asked

³my brother´ I said ³hey are you okay?´ he asked I opened my eyes and saw himsitting next to me, I smiled I hope she is alright I saw that boy was doing and he was yelling at her like she was nothing put a girl but she is a amazing girl I have every

meet. This made me laugh ³what?´ He said he smiled because I had ³nothing what

class you got now?´ I asked ³um art why?´ he said looking at me ³just wanted to

know well I will see you in there´ I said I got up and went to get something from my

car ³okay see ya Emily´ he said.

I walked to were my car was and saw a note on the window it said



I¶m sorry Emily I should not have acted like that I have gone home and am going to stay there for a while. I will see you tonight for my training.

I read this with a smile but when I got to the part about stay away for a while I got in

my car and went home, I know Jacob would be sad but I need to talk to Malcolm hewas my brother after all. I got home and found him near the cliff near our house. ³Mal

why are you up here? Where is gab?´ I said from behind with my wolves following

me, ³he¶s at work, I came here to do thinking about when I was human and how you

saved me from death I owe you my life and I told you some treble things Im so sorry

Emily I didn¶t mean to be so angry it just makes me worry when you run off´ he said

³why are you at school?´ he added as an afterthought, ³I came to see you, Beth and

Kevin told me that you were here, you really do know who to make a first impression,

the new kid things that you are the means guy he has ever know but then again

everyone does´ I said pointing as the wolves behind me with a smile ³is that the kid

who came and talked to you after?´ he asked ³yeah his name is Jacob he was sonerves and he was very kind I think you will like him´ I said I wonder where she went

I hope she is okay. ³he is also are new neighbour´ I said pointing at my head thenthree seconds later he can out from behind us. ³hey what are you doing here?´ he

asked I turned and smiled and pointed at the house to the right ³that¶s my house´ Isaid he look happy and worried at the same time, we talked even Malcolm talked that

was unlike him but I think he was doing it for us.

³Well I have to go help my mum and dad so I will see you later see ya´ he said

walking off ³nicely done Malcolm´ I said with a smile ³now what are we learning

today?´ Malcolm asked ³nothing we are going to have the day off and gab just got

home so let¶s have a nice night´ I said we walked back to the house and gab was

standing there with the worst face I know I had broken the rules so I would pay, I

walked up to him and stopped ³Gab Im sorry for leaving school I had to find

Malcolm´ I said I know he was angry. ³You know what you have done and you know

the punishment´ I nodded and went up to my room and I heard the door lock I would

be stuck up here for three days then let out. Every day before school I would hear I

hope I see her today and at the end of school I hope she is alright and then when he

was going to bed Im guessing I hope I see her tomorrow I heard that for three day on

the third I was let out the first thing I did was hunt because if I was going to school

then I need blood unlike most of my kind I hunted animals. When the sun came up Igot ready and waited until Malcolm was ready then we went to school we got there

and Jacob wasn¶t there so I stayed out front and waited. When he saw me he was sohappy I mean it nearly knock me over.

He ran up to me and gave me the biggest hug ³oh your okay I thought something badhad happened´ he said I was amazed he had thought about hugging me for the firstday I missed school and he really was. I gave him a hug back ³it was just a cold

nothing to bad´ I said I know how to sound to human ears. ³well I have this for you

but your brothers said that I could not give it to you´ he said getting out a packet it

had papers ³it¶s the homework for you, your brothers sure do love you I mean they

were letting no one in not even that Arthur guy´ he said it was true Arthur had come

for his lessons and Gabriel told him I was sick and no one could see me.



I went inside and we talked about what happened over the three days I was awaywhen I smelt something it was a scent I had not smelt in years.´Jacob I will meet you

in class and I want leave I promise´ I said I add the promise because as soon as I saidthat his face dropped. ³Okay but don¶t leave´ he said going to class I smiled and went

looking for the person who owned the scant. I looked at the shadow from the roof and

saw a shape of someone who I hadn¶t seen in years. ³Why are you on the roof?´ I ask

because everyone was in there classes now, ³because I like being up here´ said avoice then about three seconds later a face to go with the voice ³Ciao vi mia sorella´ I

said in my native tunge ³Ciao lungo non tempo vedere cosa avete state facendo?´ she

said with a smile she must have been happy to see that I hadn¶t lost my speech ³niente

you little one´ crystal said ³same but why are you here?´ I asked most of the time

when she came it was bad ³because I need to see gab but I thought I would see you

first´ she said, ³oh okay well I have to go to close´ I said I walked off she know I

could hear thoughts so she was shielding her thoughts. I got to class and Jacob was so

happy ³see I came´ I said there was a girl on the other side of him she was very pissed

off but all I could hear was they both freak they belong together I wanted to hurt thegirl but I didn¶t I just sat there ³god I have someone I want you to meet. This is my

sister Helen´ he said pointing to the girl next to him, so that who she was well I didn¶tlike her.

Now I know what Malcolm felt when he saw Arthur I went through the whole calls

and at the end me and Jacob were playing around and Helen went pass Jacob stoppedas soon as she looked at us. I just looked back there was something about her that

made me want to hurt her. She walked off and I looked at Jacob ³Jacob why do you

put up with her?´ I said ³because if I don¶t her parents will hurt me´ he said you could

see the sadness in his eyes. ³Oh Jake why did you tell me?´ I asked I gave him a hug

³because no one should have to know´ he said ³you should never have to go throw

something like that alone. I¶ll tell you something when I was a little kid my family

acted the same then I meet gab and I have lived with him every since he helped me

and now I¶m going to help you´ I said in truth the same had happened to me but just a

long time ago.

I stayed with him all day and we just talked I think it helped him a little me and

Malcolm took him home I took Malcolm home then took him home before he left I

said ³if you ever want to talk you can come into the forest and I will be there´ he

smiled and went in. I got home and got out the car. Gab was waiting for me withcrystal, I didn¶t like this Malcolm came out from behind a tree and took my hand

³what?´ I said I could not read any of them this made me more never, ³it¶s Sam hewas killed´ gab said ³no no´ I said Malcolm heeled my hand and kept me up. ³quello

with gab and crystal, I got to the cliff I thought I want to go for a swim so I got out of my cloths and just as I jumped of the cliff Jacob came out what the hell is she doing?Oh man what am I going to do I know I will save her he jumped in after me I swam up

and waited ³Emily where are you?´ he said turning then he saw me ³why did you do

that?´ he said ³I wanted to swim´ I said going back under and swimming around my

wolves jumped in. Jacob didn¶t know what to do ³it okay they want hurt you they are

my friends´ I said ³really wow I have never meet anyone who talked to wolves´ he

said I smiled I could hear footsteps then I heard hind and wait gab is looking for you

and he is angry I will help you but only for a little while it was Malcolm he was



helping me out. I looked at Jacob I know one place that no one know about, ³howwell can you swim?´ I asked ³I can do ten laps in three and half minutes´ he said ³

okay well try to keep up I want to saw you something´ I said I went under and swamto the cave I know there something¶s there that were mine I had to hid before. ³Wow

what is this place? And who owns this stuff?´ he said getting up from the water ³mine

I¶m the only one who know about this place and I thought that if you ever need a

place to come and think you can come here´ I said getting him a towel.

He took the towel I sat on the edge with my legs in the water. ³why do you come here

Emily? I mean I have place to go where I feel safe is this your safe place?´ he asked

no one had every asked me that if I had a safe place ³yeah it is and thank you´ I said

he sat down next to me and I put my head on his arm ³for what?´ he said ³for caring I

have had someone care about for a long time who wasn¶t my family´ I said. We sat

there talking and then I looked at my watch ³oh my god I have to get back´ I said I

put the towels back and dived in the water and waited for Jacob we swam back the

beach
