Greetings! Hi Friends! The purpose of this communication called Fast Friends is to updateInternational students, Visiting Scholars and their families about classes, events, announcements and

other news taking place at Friendship House. It will be emailed to you every few weeks. I hope you

find it useful. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome to make this communication more

    meaningful to you.

MSU Connection Something I share in common with you is a strong connection to MichiganState University. Most of you are either MSU doctoral, graduate or undergraduate students, or Visiting

Scholars, or family members of MSU students and staff. MSU runs deep in my family too. Back when

women seldom attended university in the U.S., my Grandmother graduated from MSU with an English

degree in 1910. Her brother, my great-uncle, received his Ph.D from MSU in 1908 and spent the next 35

years as a Professor of Animal Husbandry here. My Father was a junior at MSU when the U.S. entered

World War II in 1941. He left his studies to enlist in the army and, after the war was over, returned to

MSU to finish his degree in Business & English in 1946. I spent a couple of years at MSU doing

(Labor & Industrial Relations) while I was working at the State

Capitol. Finally, my daughter is a now senior at MSU majoring in criminal justice.
