This year’s SIS Annual Meeting—From Molecules to Medicine: Emerging Spine Care—offers you the opportunity to explore the science that is shaping the future of interventional care.

The General Session offers 19 CME credits and includes entirely new sessions on regenerative medicine, the future of molecular treatments, sex and gender differences in pain, and emerging spine technologies. If you take advantage of the onsite Ultrasound Interventions of the Spine and Masqueraders Bio-Skills Lab precourse on Wednesday and the offsite Neurostimulation Bio-Skills Lab in nearby Jersey City on Sunday, you can earn up to 35.5 CME credits.

You can also enjoy one-of-a-kind experiences while supporting advocacy, education, and research at the Annual Meeting. Read on for details about our fundraising event at Yankee Stadium and the 6th Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk for Research in Central Park.

I look forward to seeing you in New York.

SEX AND GENDER DIFFERENCES IN PAIN moderator: Ameet NAGPAL, MD, MS, MEdSex and gender differences in chronic spinal and non-spinal pain are an emerging area of research. It is clear from animal and human data that pain and how it is managed differs between men and women, as well as in those who identify as transgender. This session will cover current animal data that describe the impact of biological sex on pain and its modulation by opioids, gender-specific spine anatomy variation that may predispose to different responses to spinal interventions, and clinical pathways for treating pain based upon gender and sex and influences.Sex Differences in Pain Management in Rodent Models Anne Z. Technological advances and strong evidence of efficacy are setting the stage for expanded demand for Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) therapy to assist our most challenging spine pain patients. To succeed in this burgeoning practice area, you need to be proficient in SCS lead placement for both lumbar and cervical regions, driving and positioning surgical techniques for spinal stimulation placement, recognizing potential complications, and assessing the supportive literature, while also staying aware of current and future trends for neurostimulation technologies. The SIS Neurostimulation course addresses these aspects plus gives you intense, hands-on training in surgical implantation techniques in small groups.

This course brings you face-to-face with our highly-trained faculty members, each with over a decade of experience practicing neuromodulation. Join an elite group of fellow physicians to learn, practice, and add the art and science of spinal cord stimulation to your armamentarium.

THIS EIGHT-HOUR NEUROSTIMULATION COURSE OFFERS THE FOLLOWING HANDS-ON LAB STATIONS:• How to Trial: Trial Process, Lead Advancement, and Location• Placing and Anchoring of Permanent Leads• IPG Implant Pocket Creating and Tunneling

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

Have an unforgettable Central Park experience with your colleagues, friends, and family at the 6th Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk for Research at the SIS Annual Meeting. This year, you can choose between running the 5K or find your zen in a new Power Walk & Stretch. All participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt to celebrate your achievement and support.

The 5K Fun Run is a casual, guided 5K that will follow Central Park’s winding paths and rolling hills past many of Central Park’s most iconic locations. At brief stops, we will hear about the history of New York’s most beloved attraction. Sights include Bethesda Fountain, the Literary Walk, the Imagine mosaic, and many others.

The Power Walk & Stretch combines brisk walking with stops for stretching in the most serene natural setting in New York City. Center your mind and body as the sun rises above the skyline and the world’s most exciting city comes to life all around you.

Start time is at 6:00 a.m. so there will be ample time to complete the run/walk, get ready for the day, and grab breakfast before General Session begins at 9:00 a.m.

Separate registration is required and all registration fees are donated to the SIS Research Fund to help address important questions in interventional spine care. The Spine Intervention Society (SIS) is a tax-exempt organization under US section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Registration fees and donations are deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience with your SIS colleagues watching the New York Yankees take on the Cleveland Indians from a luxury suite in Yankee Stadium.

All-time greats like Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, and Babe Ruth have worn the Yankee pinstripes. The “Bronx Bombers” are winners of a record-setting 40 American League pennants and 27 World Series championships. And, the storied Yankee/Indian rivalry stretches back 100 years.

Your ticket provides access to the SIS luxury suite to watch the game, private entrance into the stadium, ballpark food, and non-alcoholic beverages. All proceeds of this fundraiser will support SIS advocacy, education, and research.

Yankee Stadium is approximately a 30-minute subway ride from the New York Hilton Midtown.

Tickets are limited! Purchase yours before they are sold out.
