What do these have to do with the feast of the Holy Family, which crowns the Octave of Christmas? These feasts remind us that suffering will occur in fulfilling the mission of Christ, and that we are all called to be bearers of this Word whose birth we celebrate. We also see this manifested in the lives of Joseph and Mary, both of whom took social and religious risks in obedience to the will of God, and both of whom were open to the word of God sent to them from on high. In these ways they prefigured the life of Jesus himself. Most likely, few of us found ourselves at Mass this past Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, but the essence of these feasts and the essence of the holiness of Joseph, Mary, and Jesus remain central, a holiness we celebrate today. Mission Statement: Guided by the power of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church will utilize our time, talent, and treasure through the roles of Priest, Prophet, and King to spread the Good News throughout our community and the world.

BEARERS OF THE WORD The Church has placed a number of notable feast days immediately after Christmas. The feasts of Stephen, John the Evangelist, and the Holy Innocents form a summary of the life lived in Christ, the Word made flesh.

Our Stewardship of Treasure

The Collection for December 23 & 24 will be in the next available bulletin due to

early bulletin deadlines for the Holiday.

Thank you for your understanding.

A Stewardship Moment

When Jesus is presented in the Temple, our Blessed Mother formally offers him to God’s service without reservation. It is a service that Simeon prophetically foretells: a service to God that will turn the old laws and cultural norms upside down. Are we destined to hold on to old habits and customs tightly or like Jesus, are we willing to serve the Lord and proclaim the Gospel in new and creative ways?

Exposition of the Eucharist - First Friday of the Month

Reminder

First Friday is January 5th. We are blessed with the opportunity

to be able to adore Jesus in the Eucharist every first Friday of the month from 7:30am to 5:30pm. As you come into church, please sign the adoration book on the table to the left. Everyone is welcomed. If you have committed to a specific time and cannot adore at your scheduled time, remember to call your prayer partner to make sure there will be someone present at this time or get a replacement.
