EXT. UNDERSTORY PUDDLE - MORNING

A cobweb is seen swinging gently in the wind, a piece ofdead leaf caught in its strings.

A hand equipped with a hook suddenly enters the frame,

stretching towards the leaf. The hook then disappearsoff-screen only to be seen again a few split seconds later.This time, it stays a while longer in mid-air andsuccessfully attains its target.

The camera follows the descending appendix and revealsLEATHER-WINGED JACK, standing on a vegetal rowing boat. Withthe recently found missing part, the beetle pieces afragmented leaf together.

The dried leaf is then shown to be a treasure map indicatingthe path towards a mythical flower.

The plan unexpectedly vanishes from the frame. A firstperson camera shot tilts up and tries to locate where it hasgone. As soon as it starts focusing on a particular zone,the shot transforms into a telescope point of view, zoomingon CAPTAIN CALICO.

Telescope shot of CAPTAIN CALICO landing on a branch withthe map tucked under her arms. She waves victoriously atJACK (and the audience) and lets herself fall onto herpassing ship.

Cut to: LEATHER-WINGED JACK lowering down the telescope,

shaking his head in disbelief and quickly getting back tohis own ship.

The ship takes off from the puddle and follows CAPTAINCALICO’s across the tropical botanic garden. The vesselsengage in an intense race and eventually arrive in a smallclearing, the sun blinding the camera.

FADE TO WHITE

EXT. THE FLOWER'S SANCTUARY - DAY

FADE FROM WHITE:

At the centre of the clearing, a sumptuous plant unfoldsitself, exposing a majestic flower as the ships fly aroundin circle and slow down.

CAPTAIN CALICO is the first one to jump off board and flytowards the towering flower. She attempts to gather pollenbut the bud, retracted, forbids the honey.

LEATHER-WINGED JACK subsequently lands on the plant. Hepushes his rival to the side and tries – unsuccessfully – toopen the flower with his hook.

CALICO kicks him aside and starts shacking the flower. Witha hostile expression, JACK gets up and dramatically raises

one of his arms to catch a pair of pliers sent by his crew.CALICO, exhausted, steps back to let JACK insert the twigs.The latter proceeds to pull with all his strength but theflower’s hole is so tight the pliers break apart, knockingthe pirate over.

CALICO lets out a mocking giggle, making JACK even moreirritated.

EXT. THE FLOWER'S SANCTUARY - CONTINUOUS

(Escalating montage)

CUT TO:

Camera pulls away from JACK’s face and shows him, one footstanding on a pile of berries, as he hits a cannon-likeflower and fires.

CUT TO:

In the foreground, CALICO bends down, hands over her ears,as a seed attached to the aperture of the flower explodes.The plant is seen to remain intact.

CUT TO:

Medium shot of JACK tying knots and pulling a rope.

CUT TO:

Medium shot of CALICO cutting a rose and using its thornystem to thrust into the flower like a harpoon.

CUT TO:

Close-up of JACK staring into his rival’s eyes as heperforms an unseen action.

CUT TO:

Close-up of CALICO staring into her rival’s eyes as sheperforms an unseen action.

CUT TO:

Extreme close-up of JACK staring into his rival’s eyes as heperforms an unseen action.

CUT TO:

Extreme close-up of CALICO staring into her rival’s eyes asshe performs an unseen action.

CUT TO:

A two shot of the bugs, looking drained and panting whilstthe flower remains closed.

CUT TO:

LEATHER-WINGED JACK tiredly picks up a nearby plunger-shapedflower, places himself on top of the long-desired bud andattaches the device to its end. He and CAPTAIN CALICOexchange a meaningful look as the latter joins him. CALICOputs her hands at the end the plunger shaft and the twopirates starts pumping and pulling away together.

The flower finally pops open and nectar bursts out like afirework. A golden rain of pollen showers over the ecstaticcharacters in slow-motion.

Final shot unveils the scene from a distance, with the bugsflying excitedly around the flower. All of the sudden, theplant snaps shut on both equipages, revealing itself to be aflytrap.
