Hello "Parking Task-Force Team members" with the City of Milpitas, Issue: I am a tax-paying resident of the state of CA and live in Milpitas on Metropolitan Dr. near the Great mall. As shown in the photo attached, the parking layout in the vicinity of the Metropolitan Dr does not allow for the number of cars in that area. This is in-spite of the garages at the street level. The problem gets much worse starting late evening. Since one ends up parking in remote areas at late nights and walks back home with luggage including computers, the resident's safety could also be compromised. The problems for women could be even more. History: The problem is identified by your department in year 2007 as stated here: http://www.ci.milpitas.ca.gov/government/task_force/default.asp

"Townhouse and Condominium Parking – existing parking standards do not reflect higher auto

ownership of residents and that impact on visitor parking." Contacts: I got your contact information from here: http://www.ci.milpitas.ca.gov/_pdfs/tf_parking_contact.pdf and here: http://www.ci.milpitas.ca.gov/contacts.asp . I don't know what the correct contact group is. The owner may remove the others from this email thread. Solution / Contingency Proposals: 1. I would like to propose a small and fairly inexpensive change which could contain the issue until a long term solution is found and implemented. I propose that instead of having too much extra space (possibly ~5 ft for an average size of a car) around cars in the parallel parking areas, please reduce it to say 3 ft or smaller which will still allow people to park their cars comfortably and we could park 5 cars in the current allotment of 4 (or say 6 cars in the current allotment of 5 cars). 2. The second proposal, which has less chance of acceptance, as a contingency plan, is to allow the residents near great mall to have a permit to allow parking overnight in the great mall parking lot in assigned areas. 3. The third inexpensive proposal is to allow the blue circle area and parking lot there to be open to public for parking.

Please respond at your earliest with the solution path to resolve the issue of limited parking space. With Best Regards, Viraj Pandit, Ph.D.
