IIMSAM IS THE ONLY INTER-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATION IN THE WORLD MANDATED TO DISSEMINATE FREE ”SPIRULINA PLATENSIS” WORLDWIDE AS A HUMANITARIAN INSTRUMENT IN FIGHTING SEVERE MALNUTRITION THE WORLD’S NUMBER ONE KILLER.

”SPIRULINA PLATENSIS” WAS DECLARED BY THE UN-WORLD FOOD CONFERENCE OF 1974 AS THE “BEST FOOD FOR THE FUTURE”.

IIMSAM’s Sheikh Zayed Spirulina Humanitarian Distribution Center Outreach Community Field Programme in Kisumu - Republic of Kenya distributed 18,000 doses to the muslim children of the local Masjidul Makkatul Mukarama Mosque of the Humanitarian Spirulina powder donated to the Center by IIMSAM - Hashbiotech Strategic Partner of the Republic of India.

The Free Humanitarian "Lifesaver" Spirulina Powder benefited over 200 children and adults within the

overwhelming status of health needs. Hence the high demand from a population afflicted with malnutrition and other related ailments. Among the notable beneficiaries were the over 100 children of Islamic faith which included the over 40 children from Masjidul Makkatul Mukarama Mosque adjacent to the IIMSAM Zayed Center.

Sheikh Ramadhan Khamisi Asman of the Masjidul Mosque appreciated IIMSAM’s effort for extending its kindness and generosity to the community. He conveyed his sincere thanks to IIMSAM for involvement in this most noble gesture to the extent of being mindful of other peoples’ welfare hence positively addressing their health needs.

The leadership of IIMSAM Zayed Center in Kisumu Kenya ceases this opportunity to most sincerely thank the IIMSAM – Hashbiotech Labs through their recently appointed Ambassador in India

H. E. Kunwar Vikrant Sandal for extending to IIMSAM Zayed Centre his goodwill gesture of 18,000 doses of humanitarian Spirulina powder which has helped address in time the acute health problems of over 200 Kenyans.

Malnutrition in Kenya is still of major concern affecting to a large extent both children and adults. The consequences of which are a higher mortality rate. It is in view of the high demand for Spirulina in by the beneficiaries that Amb. Sandal has pledge to continously provide the humanitarian Spirulina to the outreach programme as part of the worldwide pledge of over 1,000,000 doses.

Comments from the Secretary-General Maradona: "Our greatest strengths lies in giving our humanitarian spirulina to those in need assisted by Humanitarian Extraordinaire like Amb. Sandal who has committed the goodwill of saving lives with "Concrete Deeds" and not

just mere lip service...I appeal to those suffering from apathy in the comfort of their homes to do as Amb. Sandal has done...The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time and by doing so I appealing also to help IIMSAM Re-furbish the local Mosque that serves hundreds of people of the Muslim faith in need."

“When we succeed in saving lives and supporting

countries through the MDGs, we give credibility and momentum to the post-2015 process,”

The IIMSAM Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Spirulina "Lifesaving" Distribution Centre, has played a pivotal role in alleviating severe malnutrition and hunger in Kisumu, Kenya. IIMSAM has brought relief to thousands of children, the disabled, adults and others afflicted by the scourges of severe malnutrition and related illnesses in and around the Kisumu region of Kenya since 2009. The turnover on the first day was a total 75 people, 45 children and 30 adults. They were served on 200 doses of wet Spirulina mixed in porridge.

Kenya is home to more than 40 million people, 80% of whom live in rural areas and rely almost entirely on agriculture. Almost 10 million people in Kenya are chronically food insecure. Acute and chronic under nutrition primarily affects pregnant and lactating women and children under five years of age when the growth needs are the highest. 7% of children under five are wasted and 16% are underweight. Almost half (46%) of children aged between 18 and 23 months are stunted. Malnutrition is the cause of many harmful consequences for young children and has been identified as the main cause of deaths among children under the age of five who are also most vulnerable to illness at this age. Thus, around 30% of child deaths in Kenya can be directly attributed to malnutrition. According to UNICEF growth of 2.1 million Kenyan children under the age of five years is stunted limiting the scope of their full physical and mental potential. Hence child malnutrition represents a noteworthy and serious growth challenge in Kenya. Improvements in the quality of diets of children & tackling with malnutrition could reduce child mortality & stunting.

Comments from the IIMSAM Secretary-General Remigio Maradona: "Our greatest strengths lies in giving our free humanitarian Spirulina to those in need". The commencement of our "Lifesaving" Spirulina Nutritional Programme at the Sheikh Zayed Centre for 2015 to help improve the health of

the children and others is imperative" "Since 2009 we have served thousands of victims from malnutrition and related illnesses the world's number one killer despite difficult challanges...we hope 2015 we can be able to expand the programme to the rural areas on a permenent basis to serve those who cannot make it to our Centre."

supporting countries through the MDGs, we

IIMSAM'S SHEIKH ZAYED LIFESAVING SPIRULINA DISTRIBUTION CENTRE CONDUCTS INTERVIEWS FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION (ECDE) AND PRIMARY CLASS ONE CHILDREN FOR ADMISSION OR INTAKE 2016 KISUMU CENTRE.

IIMSAM conducted interviews to help categorize for admission the ECDE and Standard one children for the year 2016. The target total number of children to benefit directly from the center is 100, thus 50 for ECDE and another 50 for primary standard one. This number may rise to double as was evident from the great interview turn over. Five of the children to be interviewed had special needs by virtue of being either physically or mentally challenged and could not rise to the occasion. The rest were however vulnerable from varying poverty background with a history of being orphaned partially or totally, but all of them experiencing and or existing under very difficult conditions of lacking the basics of enjoying living an average life. They lack such basic needs including proper care shelter/clothing/love/security/etc, food, health, education etc.The children attending the interview were accompanied by their guardians. They were after the interview served on fresh Spirulina fortified “Uji”.

Over 170 people were served during the interview. Over 100 children were in attendance accompanied with over 70 guardians. 400 doses of Spirulina was served on that day. Fredrick Lwamba, IIMSAM'S Field andAdministrative Director, at the Sheikh Zayed,Centre in Kisumu-Kenya said: “our staff intends to work towards helping these children live an average normal life enjoying deserving basic needs. To meet our objectives, it will require and or call for pooling together the already scarce resources to help create needed space for learning environment and needed facilities for effective learning programs.”
