Since the Triple P Parenting program started last year, more than 20,000 Queensland families have received free parenting advice and a helping hand. The Triple P Parenting program provides tips on managing kids’ behaviour, balancing work and family and the best ways of raising happy, confident children. Research shows that children raised in a calm, consistent and positive home environment are more likely to succeed at school, have better jobs, experience more positive relationships and enjoy better mental and physical health. Parents who do Triple P are also more likely to have lower levels of depression, anxiety and stress, so there are plenty of good reasons for parents to learn more about the benefits of positively parenting their children. This is not a form to request teachers for 2017. Every effort will be made to take into consideration your request for class placement. Please be aware that when the school organises classes we look at all circumstances and certain facts may not be available to parents when a decision is made. Although the school will do its best to meet this request not all requests can be accommodated. Children will not be allowed to change classes when they are set on Day 1 next year. All requests for class placements in 2017 must be made in writing on this form, to be considered by the panel organising classes. The panel will not consider requests for repeating children. If you wish for your child to be considered for repeating, you need to contact your child’s teacher to find out the process that needs to occur for any child to repeat. The information you put on this form will be kept on record. All requests need to be accompanied by a reason to be considered seriously when allocating classes. Requests given to teachers will not be considered when allocating classes. Verbal requests to teachers, the principal or deputy principal will not be considered when allocations are arranged.

1C, 1M, 1P, 1Q AND 1WIt has been a very busy few weeks in Year 1. This week eachclass performed their interpretation of popular children’s bookGiraffes Can’t Dance. We had been practising this all term soit was wonderful to have all the support from many friends andfamily on the day. Thanks again to those who joined us forthese celebrations of your children’s learning.

In addition to our drama performances, the year ones allparticipated in our biennial science day this week. It was a greatopportunity for the students to be immersed in the sciencesand all students enjoyed conducting many experiments withtheir classroom teachers.

Thank you to those parents who attended our parent/teacherinterviews last week. This was a good opportunity to discussyour child’s learning and progress throughout the term.

As the holidays approach we ask that during this time youcontinue to read with your children every day. Also, pleasecheck with your child if they need to restock any of theirstationery as many students are running low on glue sticks andcolouring in pencils.

Throughout the term we have had many students who havebeen sick and therefore have gone through many tissues. If youhave could donate tissue boxes to your class, this would begreatly appreciated.

On behalf of all the Year One teachers we would like to wish allfamilies a happy and safe holiday. We look forward to seeingyou renewed and ready to learn next term.

The rest of the dayallowed for ride time and watching other shows.

Another thoroughly enjoyable event this term was thecelebrating science day. Many parents came along to take partin activities with their children in their classrooms. Studentsthen went to the I Centre later on in the day to enjoy Dr Joe’sScience show.

As Term three comes to a close can you please check with yourchild any supplies they might need for next term. It’s about thistime of year when supplies especially pencils and glue sticksstart dwindling.
