PENTECOST
May 20, 2018
FROM THE DESK OF MONSIGNOR HEITING
PENTECOST SUNDAY…
All three of our Scripture readings for Pentecost Sunday are Spirit-filled. From tongues of fire, to spiritual gifts, to the institution of the Sacrament of Reconciliation...the Spirit abounds! In our parish cluster, may the outpouring of the Holy Spirit be especially manifest upon our newly-baptized infants, their parents, and their families. May that same Holy Spirit descend upon all of our high-school graduates, their parents, and their families as well.
OUR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS...
This past and present weekend, we observed two Baccalaureate Services in our parish cluster. On May 13, Baccalaureate was observed at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Currie. Congratulations to Quentin Cochran, Erica Gervais, Nash Mayer, Darien Olivier, Riley Schmitz, and Rebecca Surprenant. This weekend (May 20), the seniors from Saint Gabriel Parish in Fulda observed Baccalaureate Sunday. Congratulations to Nathan Bakke, Amber Brueker, Emma Chepa, Allison Kenny, Matthias Kunerth, Noah Salentiny, and Taylor Warborg.
PARISH CLUSTER WISHES…
Our parish cluster extends sincere congratulations to Jake and Makenzie Sweetman on the baptism of their daughter, Laken Jo Sweetman, on May 12, 2018 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Currie. We also congratulate Cory and Keri Sandhurst on the baptism of their daughter, Nova Louise Sandhurst, on May 13, 2018 at Saint Gabriel Parish in Fulda.

Respect Life~ Did You Know? Pro-life opposition to “Susan G. Komen for the Cure” is based on two facts: 1) the
organization allows its affiliates to donate funds to Planned Parenthood, a large provider of abortions, and 2) Komen has refused to act upon the many studies that have shown a connection between abortion and breast cancer (this link is supported by 80% of the 70 epidemiological studies conducted so far, animal research, and a sound biological explanation). If you would like to support pro-life groups that are fighting breast cancer and recognize the abortion/breast cancer and hormonal birth control/breast cancer link, contact: Breast Cancer Prevention Institute at 1-866-622-6237 or www.bcpinstitute.org or Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer at 1-877-803-0102 orwww.abortionbreastcancer.com.

right choice, support and guidance is helpful. Catholic Charities provides confidential services at no cost, and we facilitate open, semi open, or closed adoptions. You can find a loving home for your baby. Call Catholic Charities at 1-800-222-5859 or go to www.ccsomn.org for more information.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF SOME SPECIAL YOUNG PEOPLE THIS SUMMER – VOLUNTEER AT DREAM CATCHERS… Once again, the organization Familias Juntas (Families Together) is sponsoring the “DREAM CATCHER” summer youth leadership program for the children of immigrants who wish to develop servant-leadership skills while learning about their Christian faith. The program will begin on June 5th and run through mid-August, one day per week (Tuesdays), in a beautiful rural setting near Iona, MN. Registration forms are now available for youth ages 9-15 who are from immigrant families. Volunteers are also needed to run this program and your talents can be used in a variety of ways, by teaching gardening skills, giving/leading presentations on public speaking/leadership/scripture/service, etc., providing noon meals, teaching a craft or art project, leading games and activities, general supervision of participants, etc. We would love to hear your ideas about how you might be part of our program! This year we are very grateful for funding from the Works of Justice Fund from the Diocese of Winona, which is making it possible for us to run this program for the third year. For more information, to request a registration form for your child, or to volunteer, please contact Lisa Kremer at 507-360-3423 or email [email protected]
