have been touched or have touched someone through the celebration of Høstfest. Yes, we

worked hard and wondered why we went through this exertion, but in the end the effort brought us closer and shows the visitors how God works in

and through each of us. All of the effort and smiles and “hello’s” make us remember all of us have

heritage, not just the Scandinavians, something of our ancestors and family that influenced and made us what we have become. Thanks for your help.

Pastor Janet’s Joke of the Month A little boy was watching with fascination as the pastor performed a couple yo-yo tricks for the children’s sermon. Later, the boy’s grandma was quizzing him about what he might want to be when he grew up. A firemen? A policeman? “How about a pastor?” she asked. “Oh, no,” he said. “I don’t know how to work a yo-yo.” For a church skit, the man who was playing God hid outside the sanctuary with a microphone. His booming voice came through the sanctuary PA System – “Adam, Eve, come here! I want to talk to you.” A mother sitting with her 5-year-old kept mumbling, “I know that voice. I know that voice.” Her child responded, “Well you should! It’s God.”

Bethany Lutheran Church (Free will offering)

The Ministry of Care Committee has been busy this fall. In September approximately 1,688 pounds of food was collected for the Lord's Cupboard Food Pantry using the Minot Area Community Foundation Donation Station. An additional $500 was donated to the Pantry as we met their challenge. Thank you for all your help to make this important project possible. On October 1st we supplied and served soup at Minot State University for the Lutheran Campus Ministry Soup Day. 289 bowls were given out and many came back for more. The hungry students and others enjoyed the delicious soups, We are planning to take cookies to the Ward County Jail for the inmates and staff on November 23. If you would like to donate 2-3 dozen cookies, will you please have them at the church on Friday, November 22nd? You can call 720-1454 or the Church Office to let us know you are bringing cookies. This "love your neighbor" project has been so appreciated. Thank you again for all your support of our activities! We are always open to having new members join our committee and would welcome your participation.

Bethany Education News Once again, Wednesday evenings at the church are in full swing. Dinner starts at 5 p.m. and Kathy Myers always has something yummy planned for our meal. Church school is also humming. We have seven dedicated leaders and four substitute teachers leading an average of 32 children each week. Something new started this year is to allow confirmed teenagers to help the adults with Church School. We presently have four Jr. Faith Leaders: Breana Morlang (Pre-K), Krista Permentier (K), McKenna Isakson (1st), and Emma Tofte (4th & 5th). If you see these young ladies around the church, please let them know you appreciate what they do for our kids.

We also host an adult forum each Wednesday on the Gospel readings for Sunday. There is a lot of fun and laughter as we try to dig-down deeper in understanding God’s Word. And don’t forget we have Worship on Wednesday’s beginning at 6:45. We encourage all parents and children to attend.

Please note, there is no Church School the week of Thanksgiving (November 27th).

Blessings in Christ! Pastor-Intern Dave
