Facebook, Snapchat, Insta-
gram, and other social
media platforms have tak-
en the place of face to
face or over the phone
human interaction, there
is still a desire to hear
from a friend or relative we have lost touch with. As
we continue our “Game Plan” message series, this
week we are taking a look at our need to “hear
from” God, to hear God speak to us, in order to car-
ry out His plan, His will for our lives.
Listening, active listening takes effort and a great deal
of energy. Whether in the context of marriage, the
relationship between parent and child, or among
close friends, good listening is essential to maintain
these healthy relationships. The same is true in our
relationship with the Lord.
If we are honest with ourselves, we spend most of
our time in prayer asking or pleading for some-
thing. We pray, “Lord, please help my daughter in
college keep strong in her Catholic faith.” “Lord, heal
and protect my Dad who is going in for sur-
gery.” However, we hear Samuel’s response to the
Lord’s call, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listen-
ing.”
In our prayer this week, let’s pray for the strength
and perseverance needed to listen to the Lord. After
all, when we allow the Lord to speak to us, we hear
from God the “Game Plan” he has in mind for each of
us.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION Please be advised that there is road construction that is going on and
that you might need to adjust your drive time to take this into consid-
eration, please remember that 8th and Pine will be closing for
construction starting July 29 and will be closed till around the
end of November while this is going on you will need to use the
11th and Pine entrance, please take turns when using this entrance and
be courteous to your fellow parishioners by taking turns
and remember this is only temporary. If you have any ques-

50 Year Wedding Celebration At the request of Bishop Zinkula, the Office of Faith Formation is spon-soring a diocesan celebration for all couples who are celebrating fifty years of marriage this year. (Couples that were unable to attend any prior celebrations are also welcome to participate.) A Mass and informal reception will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 2 p.m. We will need the names and addresses for each couple who were mar-ried in 1969 (or earlier). A personal invitation from Bishop Zinkula will be sent to these couples. We would like to have this list of couples returned to the diocesan no later then August 23. You can provide us with your information by sev-eral ways first by calling the parish office or emailing the parish office at [email protected] or by putting your information in the offering basket by no later then August 23, 2019 so that we have time to pre-pare the invitations.

50º ANIVERSARIO DE BODA CELEBRACIÓN MISA
A petición del Obispo Zinkula, la Oficina de Formación de Fe está patrocinando una celebración Diocesana para todas las
parejas que celebran 50 años de matrimonio este año. Esto también es para cualquier pareja que no pudo asistir a las
celebraciones previas.
Una Misa y recepción despues de la celebracion se celebrará
en la Catedral del Sagrado Corazón de Davenport el domin-go 27 de octubre de 2019 a las 2pm.
Necesitamos los nombres y las direcciones para cada pareja en su parroquia que se casaron en 1969, tambien de alguna
pareja que no pudo asistir previamente. Se les enviará una invitación personal del Obispo Zinkula a estas parejas.
Nos gustaría tener la lista de parejas devuelto no mas tardar el 23 de Agosto 2019 para que
haya tiempo para preparar las invitaciones.
Incluso en una cultura donde Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram y otras plataformas de medios sociales han
tomado el lugar de cara a cara o sobre la interacción humana telefónica, todavía hay un deseo de tener noticias de un amigo o pariente con el cual hemos perdido el contacto. Al continuar nuestra serie de mensajes "Plan
de juego", esta semana estamos echando un vistazo a nuestra necesidad de "escuchar de" Dios, de escuchar a Dios hablar con nosotros, para llevar a cabo Su plan, Su voluntad para nuestras vidas.
Escuchar, escuchar activamente requiere esfuerzo y mucha energía. Ya sea en el contexto del matrimonio, la
relación entre padre e hijo, o entre amigos cercanos, el escuchar es esencial para mantener estas relaciones saludables. Lo mismo es cierto en nuestra relación con el Señor.
Si somos honestos con nosotros mismos, pasamos la mayor parte de nuestro tiempo en oración pidiendo o suplicando algo. Rezamos, “Señor, por favor ayude a mi hija en el colegio a mantenerse fuerte en su fe católica”. "Señor, cura y
protege a mi papá que va a cirugía." Sin embargo, escuchamos la respuesta de Samuel al llamado del Señor: "Habla, Señor, porque tu siervo está escuchando".
En nuestra oración de esta semana, oremos por la fuerza y perseverancia necesarias para escuchar al Señor. Después de todo,
cuando permitimos que el Señor nos hable, escuchamos de Dios el "Plan de Juego" que tiene en mente para cada uno de no-sotros.

que va a tener una cirugía o que esté pasando por un mo-mento difícil. Llame a la oficina parroquial y hágale saber a
María para que los ponga en la línea de oración. No es nece-sario que dé el nombre de la persona o personas por las que
oramos.
SCRIP Se vender tarjetas pre-pagadas para diferente tiendas despues
de Misa y durante la semana en la oficina. Un buen regalo para un cumpleaños, bautismo, etc. Lo que se vendan de las
tarjetas son para beneficio de nuestra escuela.
VISITAS AL HOSPITAL
Avise a la oficina parroquial o a los sacerdotes si sabe de al-guien que está en el hospital o en un Acilo de Ancianos y le
gustaria una visita.
CONSTRUCCIÓN Tenga en cuenta que hay construcción en la calle 8.
Comenzando el 29 de Julio, la calle Pine estara cerrada
hasta los mediados de Noviembre. Recuerde que sola-
mente habrá UNA entrada/salida a la iglesia las semanas
siguientes. Puede tener acceso a la iglesia a través de la
calle 11 y Pine. Por favor, tomen turnos al
usar esta entrada y sean cortés con sus com-
pañeros feligreses tomando turnos y
recuerden que esto es sólo temporal.
PREPARACION PARA EL BAUTISMO
Para que su hijo/hija sea bautizado/a, debe hacer estas tres cosas (es conveniente hacerlo en esta orden):
1. Hable a la oficina parroquial al 263-1416 para asegurarse de que estén registrado en la parroquial.
2. Llame a la Hermana Cheryl al 263-3448 sobre las clases para bautismo en ingles, o llame a Maria al 263-1416 so-
bre las clases para bautismo en español. 3. Y por ultimo, llame a la oficina con Maria para escoger su
fecha.
Niños de edad pre-escolar (edad 5) o mas grandes,
que están en necesidad del bautismo, deben de hablar con la Hermana Cheryl, 263-3848. Las personas que
desean bautizar es la responsabilidad de ustedes de llamar a la oficina e informarse de las fechas para las platicas y días de
bautismo.
