Parish Family Spotlight: The Schillig Family

Jason and Angie were married in September 2016 at Ss Mary & Mathias Parish. Their blended family consists of son - Brenton Schillig age 24, daughter - Taylor Dowell age 24, son-in-law Mor-gan Dowell, son - Tanner Brauns age 20, and granddaughter - 9 month old Vienna Dowell. They also have a 2 year old lab mix named Zoey and 3 cats. At times it can seem like a zoo at their house. Jason has worked for Musco Lighting for 21 years and Angie has worked at All-steel for 14 years. Jason joined Ss Mary & Mathias Parish in 2001 while Angie joined in 2014. Their journey together in the parish really began when Angie started RCIA. Her mother in law had asked her husband to discuss with her attending RCIA. Angie had no clue what it even was. She liked learning about different religions as growing up her family did not go to church regularly. Typically they would go during the important holidays and test churches out but did not attend on a regular basis. Angie was curious about the Catholic faith. She was newly baptized from another local church and had no intention of changing her beliefs. Angie agreed to attend RCIA with one condition – Jason had to come with her. He could not answer her questions on what being Catholic meant or at least not to her satisfaction. His intention was to get Angie to go think-ing her sister in law would be her sponsor so then he didn’t have to attend. There was one solid moment that told Angie she belonged in this parish. Sister Cheryl told Angie that re-gardless of what she decide in the end that she be the best she can be. That meant, if Angie chose to be Catholic she should be the best Catholic she can be. If she chose to be Baptist then she should be the best Baptist she can be. This has stuck with Angie from day one. Ja-son not only learned right along with her but this became their journey together. They both believe in the importance of sharing one’s gifts. Lately, however, time has been their constraint. Jason and Angie both travel with their jobs so it makes it hard to commit. However, Angie has been a past President of the Parish Council, has taught Junior Achieve-ment for 6 years, and has served as a committee member with the New Beginnings Fund-raiser to earn money for the local MCSA Domestic Violence Shelter. Jason has involved him-self throughout the community whether coaching kids wrestling, serving on the New Begin-nings committee, or volunteering to install new lights at various local locations including Ss. Mary & Mathias School. Jason and Angie love the fact that this parish has such passionate parishioners. They attest, “Without each and every one of them we would not have a church. We are proud to be a part of this Parish family.”

“no”.

To-

to central del año litúrgico.
