How to download an audiobook from the

Lincoln City Libraries to your Apple Device

using Overdrive.

Why use Audiobooks?

Do you wish you had more time to read books, but all

you have time for are textbooks?

Have you ever been standing in line at the DMV,

bored and wishing you had something to pass the

time?

How about those long bus routes to work and/or

school each morning?

With an audiobook you can squeeze in your favorite

authors into your busy daily routine for free using

only your Apple device and your Lincoln City

Libraries library card.

What You Will Learn

This tutorial will help guide you through the proper

steps required to download free audiobooks from the

Lincoln City Libraries directly to your Iphone, Ipad or

Ipod Touch. By the end of this tutorial you will be

able to:

1. Execute the steps needed to download the

Overdrive Application to your Apple device.

2. Create a free account with Adobe for Overdrive.

3. Download your new audiobook directly to your

Apple Device and enjoy!

Part 1:

Downloading Overdrive

Step 1: Where to download?

Open up the App Store on your Apple device.

Part: 1, Step: 2: Searching

Type in Overdrive in the search box at the top of the

screen and select “Overdrive Media Console”.

Part: 1 Step: 3: Install

Click Install on the right side of the screen.

Part 1, Step 4: Password!

Enter in your Apple ID Password.

Part 1 Step 5: Load up Overdrive

Locate The Overdrive app icon on your Apple device

menu screen, and select it to start it up.

Part 2: Creating your Adobe account

Upon launching the Overdrive App you will

receive this prompt:

Part 2 Step 1: Selecting a response.

If you already have an Adobe account select “sign

in” and fill in your login information. If you do not,

select “Register at Adobe.com”.

Part 2 Step 2: Registering

After you select “Register at Adobe.com your Apple

device will automatically open up your web browser

and take you to Adobe.com. Select “Create an

Adobe Account”.

Part 2 Step 3: Detail, details…

Next, fill out your basic account information in

the text fields marked with a red Asterisk.

Scroll to the end of the page and click

continue.

Part 3

Download time!

Selecting and downloading your

audiobook from the Lincoln City

Libraries Website.

Part 3 Step 1: Get Books

Launch your Overdrive App and go to the “Get

Books” section and select “Add a Library”.

Part 3 Step 2: Adding a Library

Type in “Lincoln City Libraries” in the search

field.

Part 3 Step 3: Choices!

Pick your favorite Library Branch!

Part 3 Step 4: Launching!

Click the arrow to launch the Lincoln City Libraries

Website.

Part 3 Step 5: Search for a book

Use the search box to hunt for a book you might like.

Let’s assume you want Harry Potter and The

Chamber of Secrets.

Part 3 Step 6: Finding Your Audiobook

Scroll down until you find the audiobook you wish to

download that is currently available for checking

out. Also be sure that you select an audiobook and

not an ebook!

Note: If your desired book has no available copies you

can select “Place eReserve” and you will receive an e-mail

when your book is available to check out!

Part 3 Step 7: Check Out Your Ecart!

After clicking “add to Ecart” Go to “My Ecart”

and click “download”.

Don’t Forget!

You will need to Login to your eAccount by clicking

“My eAccount” and filling in your Library Card

Number in the text field.

Part 3 Step 8: Downloading!

Clicking “Download” will toggle you back to

the Overdrive App and your audiobook will

begin downloading. Wait for it to finish.

Part 3 Step 9: Press Play!

Once your book has finished downloading click

play and enjoy your audiobook on the go!
