We offerBio2Oil offers a unique implementation of the hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) technology that is ready to handle the decentral nature of biomass. Research has shown that HTL is one of the most energy efficient solutions for handling wet biomass streams.

The key advantages of our technology are:• A cost efficient and compact plant

design with a footprint of just two 40ft containers capable of treating 4000t of dry matter per year.

• High efficiency thanks to a novel heat exchangers and pumps that enable a heat recovery of upwards of 90%.

• The possibility to treat low dry matter feedstocks through a novel biomass assisted filtration technology.

• Scalable and modular plant design. Larger capacity needs can cost efficiently be met by adding additional units.

The marketThe primary target for our product is wastewater treatment companies handling from 80.000 PE and upwards.

Our product provides a much sought- after solution to the problematic and costly disposal of wastewater sludge, and generates significant cost savings, while producing a renewable bio crude, which can used as a crude fuel or bitumen replacement. Thereby proving a profitable investment with a relatively short payback period. HTL is also compatible with modern technologies for recovering nitrogen and phosphate.

Our technology also offers a number of oth-er applications within: production of biogas, treatment of municipal solid waste and a number of industrial sectors, where HTL can be applied directly to high biomass waste streams.

The futureThe future for HTL is looking bright, and in the upcoming years, we are expecting to further improve the produced biocrude and enable it to be used in many well-known applications.

With further research, the produced biocrude is capable of being used in traditional flows for crude oil, and has the potential to be upgraded into jetfuel, maritime fuel, diesel and bunker oil. Thereby providing the transportation with a new path towards becoming independent of fossil fuels.

When the traits of the biocrude comes closer to those of fossil crude oil, it will further more be able to be used in production of a lot of oil-based products such as plastics, chemicals and many more. This will significantly reduce the CO2 footprint of these industries, while keeping the traditional production flows in place.

Our companyWe are privately held company specialising in the hydrothermal liquefaction process – a well-known process which previously has struggled to be cost competitive. Through our innovation, we have developed a process that is profitable even in small scale, and now we are working on refining it even further with the aim of getting 7 to 10 times more energy out as biocrude than is utilized in the process.
