This is my first layer that I’ve done, the paint brush flick on the bottom was used in order to add a hipster look to it as well as a nice finish. It was a very good base to put text on in a professional looking way. The background was first airbrushed black in order to elict a dark, rock-like atmosphere. The darkness portrays danger and the yellow portrays caution which is what rock is all about, therefore, the choice of colours was on the spot. I’ve used the burn tool in order to give the background a little more detail rather than it being simple black.

This allows for it to have a more professional look which allows for a larger consumer rate as people would buy a better looking quality magazine over a simple looking one.

In this stage I’ve added the main image, made use of the banner that I've created on my background layer. Also I have added text all around including the masthead title, strap line, logo, polaroid style picture, picture of a band member for a separate insider to add diversity, advertisement on the banner and a freebie advertisement in order to lure people in.

The masthead title is called MoshPit as it links in with what occurs at gigs, concerts and clubs during a heavy rock song. It is also something that strongly relates to rock music which is what my magazine is portraying. The logo is a shortened version of the masthead with the red letters as the initials. This gives it a more cool/professional look to it which would help with consumer numbers as people would like to buy a good looking magazine.

The strap-line used says “let the bodies hit the floor” This relates to the MoshPit title as that is the result of moshpitting.

Next, I’ve added a mini insider next to the picture of my “band member” in order to attract consumer eyes to read on by following the article to a page inside the magazine. This would lure the consumer in.

I’ve added convergent links which advertise synergy between social media and the internet platform. I’ve done this by adding the text at the bottom “check us out on Twitter” etc. I’ve provided web adresses for the consumers to explore the magazine brand <MP>.

Also, I’ve added with cover lines which follow the 6mm rule where the text is not allowed to touch the walls of the magazine due to the risk of being cut off. I’ve used pageplus in order to find my perfect font that I could use. Also, I’ve added a barcode.

Finally, I’ve tweaked the colours of the background, the shadows behind the bottom picture and brightened the main picture in order to highlight the main focus of this magazine cover; which is the band. I’ve added an issue number, price and logos of popular apps and social media. I’ve used spotify as it is a world-wide known music program on many devices such as computers, phones, ipods etc. By placing the Spotify logo, I’ve advertised the band’s album on spotify. Also, it could show partnership between the <MP> brand and the spotify brand which would allow for a wider reach over consumers.

I’ve used the social media logos in order to advertise the <MP> brand’s facebook and twitter pages for proactive consumers to interact with.

This use of logo’s also shows convergent links between the print mag industry and the web industry.
