W hile Minnedosa isoten reerred to as
a hockey town we are alsoortunate to be home toone o the province’s bestdownhill ski areas, Ski Val-ley. Te 2011-12 ski sea-son opened last weekendor the many skiers and
snowboarders who have
been anxiously awaitingthe opportunity to hit theslopes once again.
Tis past Monday and Wednesday, Ski Valley welcomed Grade 7 and8 students rom anner’sCrossing School or somedownhill winter ftnessbeore Christmas break.For many o the students,
this was their introduc-
tion to downhill skiing orsnowboarding.
Skiing is a wintersport which can be en-
joyed by all age groups. Whether solo, partneredor as a amily or group,many people spend agreat deal o time on theslopes during the wintermonths. Downhill skiing
and snowboarding is not
only an enjoyable winterpastime, it also brings nu-merous health and ftnessbenefts or participants.Now open or another
season, Ski Valley will beclosed Christmas Day but
will be open or regularhours this season and willopen at 10 a.m. on New
Year’s Day.
Three arrested in Break
and Enter - missing girlreturned safely
On Monday, Decem-ber 19th, Minnedosa
RCMP received a call o amissing 13-year-old girl
who had last been seen by her parents late Sunday evening. Over the nextew hours, missing per-son alerts or the girl were
communicated via socialmedia and radio. Fortu-nately, uesday morning,the girl was located on theKeeseekoowenin First Na-tion near Elphinstone andshe was saely returnedhome to her amily. Alsolocated was a man con-nected to a break and enterat the Valley Motor Lodge,early Monday morning.Te break and enter oc-curred at approximately 4:45 am.

inside the premises nearthe beer cooler. Ater ashort pushing match one o the suspects was locked inthe beer cooler until policearrived. Te other suspectapologized to the ownerand ed. He was identifedas Jerry Rule, ormerly o Minnedosa. Nothing wasstolen rom the premise.
A review o the se-curity tape at VML along
with urther investigationrevealed that there weretwo other male suspectsinvolved. Police madethree arrests in connec-tion to this incident.Charged with Break andEnter are Jerry George Al-lan Rule, 21, o Yorkton, SK;David John Donald Switzer,21, o Shoal Lake, MB andDarwin Scott Brazeau, 20,o Brandon, MB.At press time Wednes-
day, RCMP were seekingthe public’s assistance in
locating a ourth suspect;Douglas Roman JosephDaciuk, 23, o Brandon,MB. RCMP have obtaineda warrant or his arrest inconnection with this inves-tigation. He is describedas white male, light brownhair, blue eyes. He is 5’6”in height and weighs 148lbs.
