Structure of the Course
Coursework: 60% (inc written piece)Practical project which will include sketchbook work & sustained pieces based on a theme of your choice.1 extended art history essay minimum 1000 words(12% final mark).
Exam: 40%Roughly 8 weeks to prepare an idea in the sketchbook then a 15 hour timed final piece.
Exam paper given out Y13 1st Feb. Course complete before study leave.
Y12
Term 1 – Skills based students produce two dimensional and three dimensional work around the theme of portrait / natural form
Term 2 – Start to work around negotiated individual theme
Term 3 – Mock Exam 10hrs 8 week preparatory period. Working around own theme / Written Piece

Term 2 / 3 Exam 15hrs 8 week prep period
A Level Art

WHY ART?
We are a visual society. We access the world through Computer Screens, Phone Screens,Tablet Screens, TV Screens.
Animators, Artists, Clothing Designers, Film Makers, Furniture Makers, Graphic Designers, Illustrators, Photographers, Product Designers, TV Production Staff, Web Designers
All the people who create, plan and make the stuff we look at on all of these screens havehad an Art education at GCSE, A Level and or Degree Level.
The Mini Cooper was originally sketched out by hand on an opened out envelope. Everything from Cars to multi million pound Pixar films are sketched or doodled at the ideasStage.
