What is your motivation for doing your project?
OverviewJourney 2,500 miles away to the dazzling island of the Dominican Republic
Your 9 day adventure will include:• Educational visits to Los Cacaos Coffee Plantation• Visits with local school children and teachers• Helping out at a local orphanage• Learning about the island’s rich cultural heritage• Relaxing on tropical beaches

• Arrive back at Heathfield Community School on Saturday 11th July 2015 10:30 (All students to phone parents on the way home)
Day 1: Arrival• Flight arrives at 1:00 pm• Transport to accommodation with time to rest and
eat• Health and Safety briefing and evening meal
Day 2: Explore to Los Cacaos Coffee Region• Meetings with the Coffee Plantation leaders and tours of their facilities• Visit Santana – site of the Coffee Plantation’s new agro-tourism project
Day 3: Work, Entertainment & Games in Los Cacaos • Work alongside Coffee Plantation staff• Basketball game with local children• Dinner and dancing
Day 4: Meet Local Students and Teachers
• Meet with students and teachers in the community of Los Cacaos
• Exchange pen-pal letters
Day5: Sight-seeing and Relaxation Take in the sights and relax after a hard 3 days of work
and travelIn the morning:• Guided city tour of Santo Domingo
– Fortaleza Ozama & Catedral Primara
After Lunch:Relax and soak up the sun at Boca Chica Beach
Day 6: Introduction to Frontier’s Partner NGO• Small orphanage in Santo Domingo run by the lovely Dominica• Talk about history of the orphanage and how they help the community• Lunch followed by afternoon games and activities with the children
Day 7: Art Project and Presentation to Frontier’s Partner NGO• Art project with the children – painting a mural, to be finished on the final day• Lunch followed by presentation to the orphanage about Heathfield Coffee Project
Days 8, 9 & 10: Sight-seeing and Relaxation
Day 8• Visit the Botanical Gardens and have tea at the British EmbassyDay 9• Spend a full day enjoying Boca Chica BeachDay 10• Completion of your mural at Frontier’s partner NGO as a part
of your donation
Please note that the most fair way to give a donation is to hand it directly to the organization and not to individual children
Duty of Care and Risk Assessments• Safety will be assessed to our highest standard
– Initial safety documentation has been completed to deem the trip safe to run and all documentation will be finalized by staff when they arrive in-country and submitted to London HQ for approval, prior to the groups arrival
– All participants will be briefed by staff on all of the risks and control measures upon arrival and prior to activities
– Risks will be assessed on an ongoing basis and a staff member will be available at all times to manage risks, for emergencies, or to bring any unforeseen safety concerns to the attention of the group
• You are still responsible for your personal Health and Safety:• Always inform a staff member if you feel unwell or unable to keep up with the
group• Be sure to always adhere to the Frontier Code of Conduct
You must behave appropriately and sensibly during your time with Frontier
Look out for your own well-being…• We take Health & Safety very seriously• Must have completed medical forms• Please make field staff aware of any concerns or illnesses– Field Staff have medical kits and First Aid Training– Keep hydrated!– Prevention is better than cure

Money
As a group the pupils have raised an additional £100 each.
This will be changed into local currency (Dominican Republic Peso) and Mrs Essadiq will act as banker.
Pupils will need money for drinks, snacks and (hopefully) presents for their parents! It’s up to you, the amount they have. It would be sensible to have £20 for breakfast at (the horribly expensive) Gatwick airport.
