Pultrusion is a continuous process of roving, or mat/ roving bundles, which are drawn through a resin impregnated bath to coat each fiber with a specially formulated resin mixture. The impregnated fibers are thendrawn through a heated die which forms the desired cross section. Curing of the thermosetting resin is initiatedby heat in the die and catalyst in the resin. The rate of reaction is controlled by heating of the die. The resulting high unidirectional strength profile is cut to length and is ready to be used in the Oglaend SystemFRP Cable Management and Multidiscipline Support system.

Simply the Best: Encouraged by the market response to our new line of FRP products which took one year from concept to

installation, Oglaend System secured the first of many big orders in 2006, one being British Gas Tapti.

From the start of engineering the client and EPC contractor could clearly see numerous benefits not just from a

cost point, but more importantly from an engineering/installation point as this project had limited space and the

requirement for flexibility was the key to a successful installation. BG Tapti used Oglaend System's FOE150 heavy

duty ladder and most of the unique Oglaend System accessories. Some of these items can be seen below.

Our patented SmartLok rung insertWith it s fire retardant, low smoke halogen free properties,this clip with its glass reinforced sides fits neatly into therung by simply squeezing the end of the clip together andpushed into the rung.

The clip is locked into place by the glassreinforced taps on each side, and thescrew is then inserted through the channelinto the clip, preventing any type of pull out.

Finally the trim edge on the ladder profilewill fix the rung in position and preventany rung rollover when pulling cables.

2. ULTRAVIOLET (UV) Pultruded products shall have an integral chemical additive to help to mitigate discoloration and a surface veil will help to prevent glass fiber exposure, thus maximizing total UV protection.

3. FLAME SPREADAll composite materials shall be fire retardant and have aflame spread rating in accordance with ASTM E-84 class I or BS476 part 7 class 0, l & II.

Our standard systems are for ladders C1, trays C1 and C2.

5. MATERIAL CONTENTa. Glassfibre to resin ratio shall be maintained between

45-65 % by weight in all pultruded components. b. Flat sheet shall be 40-50%

11. PHYSICAL PROPERTIESStraight Ladder section shall be pultruded glass reinforcedwith a premium resin system:

a.Our ladder and tray members have been designed specifi-cally to optimize the load capacity in the form of a beam section. This UNIQUE style has in addition two importantadvantages, the first being the way our splice plate fits flush and tightly between the flanges (see detail “a”) thus preventing the plate from slipping at time of installation. The other is our patented rung to lad-der attachment where the rung fits neatly between two flanges and locked using our patented insert (see detail «b»).

b.Rung to side rail member connections shall be connected by a fire retardant (UL94 VO halogen free) composite locking clip. The rung to side rail mechanical connection shall resist both vertical shear and rung pullout.

c.The height of the rung is 24mm to maximize cable installations.

d. All Rungs have perforations along the length to aid easyinstallation of cables.

e.All sections are able to use Oglaend System ETIN tubing clamp and TREFOIL SmartCleats andother fixing accessories.

f. Straight sections of ladder and tray are predrilled to accept connector plates.

g. All cut ends and drilled splice plate holes are sealed prior to goods leaving factory.

12. ANTI STATIC – ASTM D257All products can be supplied with Anti Static Properties ranging from Surface resistivity 106 to 1010 and for VolumeResistivity 105 contact Oglaend System for further details.

13. OGLAENDS OLSTAR SYSTEM: LOW FLAME SMOKE/TOXICITY RESIN SYSTEM

OLSTAR system provides the best low flame, smoke /toxicitysolution for marine and petrochemical application. Tunnel,mass transit and building projects to name a few would greatly benefit from our system due to its low flame, smoke/toxicity properties.

OLSTAR system is available in two formulations, ABS/DNVpetrochemical applications and the other is infrastructureprojects where we can maximum performance to meet application.

10. CONNECTOR PLATES AND FASTENERSa.Splice plates are in Stainless Steel AISI 316L or in FRP

designed with sufficient strength to suit all applications. b.ANTI VIBRATION SOLUTION. All splice plates are

attached to the FRP ladder and tray using the Oglaend System self-locking bolt and safety nut.

c.Fasteners for ladders are 10mm diameter for splice plates and 8mm for the rung fixing detail.

Installation of the heavy duty clamp is quick and easy. All that is required once the cover is in position is to remove thenuts located on top of each side of the reinforcement ribs, thenhook the stainless steel clamp under the bottom flange of the ladderand lift clamp upwards so the slotted hole on top of clamp landsdirectly over the bolt and once in place apply the nut to secure.

NEMA FG-1

Installation of Oglaend System fiberglass ladder &trays should be made in accordance with the standards set by NEMA Publication FG-1, CableLadder Installation Guide, and National ElectricalCode, Article 318.

Always observe common safety practices whenassembling ladder and fittings. Installations usuallyrequire some field cutting. Dust created duringfabrication presents no serious health hazard, butskin irritation may be experienced by some workers.

Operators of saws and drills should wear masks,long sleeve shirts or coveralls. Fabrication withfiberglass is relatively easy and comparable toworking with wood. Ordinary hand tools may beused in most cases.

Avoid excessive pressure when sawing or drilling.Too much force can rapidly dull tools and alsoproduce excessive heat which softens the bondingresin in the fiberglass resulting in a ragged edgerather than a clean-cut edge.

Field cutting is simple and can be accomplishedwith a jig saw or a circular power saw with abra-sive cut-off wheel (masonry type) carbide grittedor diamond tip blade or hack saw.

Drill fiberglass as you would drill hard wood.Standard twist drills are more than adequate.

Any surface that has been drilled, cut, sanded orotherwise exposed to the elements must besealed with a suitable resin. This is recommendedto prevent corrosive chemicals from reachingexposed glass fibers.

Carbide tipped saw blades and drill bits are recommended when cutting large quantities.

Support the fiberglass material firmly during cutting operations to keep material from shiftingwhich may cause chipping at the cut edge.

Each ladder section length should be equal to orgreater than the support span.-When possible, thesplice should be located at quarter span.

Fittings should be supported as per NEMA FG-1.

WARNING! Not to be used as a walkway, ladder orsupport for personnel. To be used only as amechanical support for cables and tubing.

Cable ladders are designed as a support for poweror control cables, or both and is not intended ordesigned to be a walkway for personnel.

Six of the best points for a safeinstallation:

1. Carefully read the MSD Sheet on the resin systemyou are using, Contact Oglaend System for your copy.People with respiratory problems should not beexposed to dust created by FRP products.

2. Observe common safety precautions when usingcutting tools. Always wear gloves, safety glasses orgoggles and a respirator (mask) to reduce inhalation ofdust. We recommend the use of approved masks only.

3. Dust from cutting FRP products can cause skinirritation. Wear clothing to reduce dust from contactingwith skin. If dust causes difficulty in breathing orexcessive skin irritation, stop immediately and consulta doctor.

4. Take care when using the resin sealing pack.Carefully read and follow the instructions enclosed inthe resin pack prior to use. Always wear safety glassesand protective clothing when working with FRP products or resins. Do not allow resin or catalyst tocome in contact with skin.

5. When possible, try to cut or modify on site. This will increase accuracy and reduce waste. Always allow (5mm) for the blade thickness when cutting.

6. To maintain the long service life Oglaend System sproducts are known for always seal the cut ends withan approved sealing resin pack from Oglaend System.
