MOULDED GRATINGS
General
Constructions
Moulded Gratings are produced by the hand lay-up process in which continuous fibreglass rovings are systematically laid in an open mould in the direction of vertical and horizontal, layer after layer manually, and thoroughly wetted out with liquid resin. When the weaving process is completed, the mould is heated to cure the grating panel. After curing, the grating panel is ejected from the mould. The standard panel would have concave non-slip walking surface. Other surface such as gritted surface, smooth surface are also produced on request. Gritted surface for applications where maximum wear resistance and slip resistance is required. Grit is embedded in the resin layer - not glued on - for greater durability.
Design
Regularly Moulded Gratings are made from polyester resin matrix. Glass content is approximately 35%. They are also available with vinylester or phenolic resin. All kinds of resin are self-extinguishing and with UV-stabiliser. Standard colours are green, orange, yellow or grey, other colours are available on request. The high percentage of resin (65%) in moulded grating offers superior corrosion resistance and optimal impact resistance. Since Moulded Gratings are “cast” in one-piece, there is no mechanical joint between bearing bars, and along with the continuous fibreglass rovings in alternating layers, in the direction of vertical and horizontal, so the loads are distributed evenly in all directions. These features allow for use without continuous side support.
Why Use FRP Moulded Gratings?
Moulded Grating is an excellent alternative to metal grating where there are safety concerns due to the presence of liquids and oils on the floor as well as corrosive environments where chemical resistance of the flooring material is important for long term durability. Moulded Gratings are lightweight and easy to fabricate. Savings on labor and equipment often make the total installed cost of them comparable to that of steel. Combining these installation savings with low maintenance, long life and worker safety, these products offer a life cycle cost that is significantly lower than that of metallic products.

Transparent Gratings
FRP COMPOSITES / GRATINGS D – 12 12/38
Brighter Colors Transparent Gratings have become increasingly popular to provide brighter colors for Facades, Sun Screening, Equipment Screening and Cladding Panels. Transparent Gratings are manufactured using translucent resins, lightly tinted, in a range of colors, which allows maximum light transmission to produce the perfect decorative effect. When lit from behind light refracts through the translucent mesh construction to illuminate the front surface to create a "glow" effect. Transparent Gratings, although offering high light transmission characteristics, offer excellent sun shade protection, whilst still providing the advantage of 68% air flow ventilation. Due to the unique design, they will allow differing amounts of sunlight to pass through the mesh, depending on the sun's angle.
PULTRUDED GRATINGS
General
Constructions
Pultruded Gratings are based upon high strength pultruded
bars ( I-profiles or T-profiles) in load-bearing direction, which are connected by cross-rods with proper spacing through some assembly techniques.
Design
Pultruded Gratings are made from isophthalic polyester resin. The reinforcement is achieved by a combination of fibreglass mats and rovings reaching a glass content of approximately 65%. They are also available with vinylester or phenolic resin. All kinds of resin are self-extinguishing and with UV-stabiliser. A wide variety of bearing bar shapes along with various bearing bar and cross-rod pacings are available depending on the design requirements.
The traditional "I" bar shape provides maximum flexibility in design. It is available in 25mm, 30mm, and 38mm depths. The "T" bar shape provides a more solid walking surface and prevents catching high heels and other objects between the bars. It is available in 25mm, 38mm and 50mm depths.
When using FRP Pultruded Grating, make sure the bearing bars in the grating panel are oriented in the correct direction for the application. Bearing bars should traverse from support to support. Cross-rods are not intended to be applied in the span direction.
Why Use FRP Pultruded Gratings?
FRP Pultruded Gratings are lightweight, which saves on freight and makes installation easier. The unique cross-bar construction allows the grating panels to be easily cut and modified to fit almost any plant requirement. Pultruded Grating has a primary advantage over moulded GRP gratings: It has superior load-supporting ability over longer spans.

PULTRUDED GRATINGS
Phenolic Gratings
FRP COMPOSITES / GRATINGS D – 19 19/38
Phenolic Gratings
Pultruded phenolic grating is an alternative to maintenance-intensive metallic grating for applications where conventional pultruded grating cannot be used. Phenolic grating can withstand high temperatures and direct flame while maintaining its structural integrity as well as generates significantly less smoke and toxic fumes than conventional grating when exposed to fire. This feature makes the grating ideal for a wide range of offshore, marine, transportation and industrial applications.

Three-Piece Cross-Rod
Assembly
PULTRUDED GRATINGS
Assembly Techniques
Three-Piece Cross-Rod Assembly
Three-piece cross-rod assembly consists of two continuous, pultruded spacer bars and a center core wedge. The spacers are notched at each bearing bar so that the bars are both mechanically locked and chemically bonded to the web of each bearing bar. This separates and affixes bearing bars firmly in position and distributes concentrated loads to adjacent bars. The resulting panel can be easily fabricated with standard carpenters’ tools with abrasive cutting edges.
Two-Piece Cross-Rod Assembly
The two piece locking cross-rod assemblies creat multiple bonded intersections of bearing-bars and cross-rods, thus providing the security of both a mechanically locked and bonded connection. The final step in the process is to seal the cross-rods and holes with corrosion resistant epoxy resin.
