• Known Data Needs:– ESF-10 Oil and Hazardous Waste

• OIL (includes FRP and SPCC)• RMP

• Hurricane Sandy identified new data gaps– ESF-3 Infrastructure

• Wastewater Treatment Plants (ICIS-NPDES and CWNS)• Drinking Water Treatment Plants (SDWIS)

ER Data Requirements

Page 3: FRS Emergency Response Data Quality Initiatives

• What can/should FRS do?– Thematically targeted DQ initiatives for select

datasets and environmental interests of interest to ER community

– Geographically targeted DQ initiative to improve facility data for hardest-hit communities

– Recurring (annual) effort via FRS data stewards to have them review high-risk facilities in their region

FRS DQ Initiatives

Page 4: FRS Emergency Response Data Quality Initiatives

• Thematically Targeted– ESF-10: Oil and Hazardous Waste

• Will look to periodically review OIL and RMP datasets. Are there any other datasets relevant to ESF-10 facilities, such as TRI, RCRA or OTAQREG fuels producers?

– ESF-3: Infrastructure• Will look to have more fine-grained capability for

identifying wastewater treatment plants in FRS• Many data gaps in SDWIS, will need to work with OW• Others? Power plants or other critical infrastructure?

• Geographically targeted– Historic FEMA disaster

declarations 1964-2011– Can analyze frequency

by county

• Working on:– ESF-3 Wastewater Treatment Plant Layer

• Will have ICIS-NPDES treatment plant data• Likely to add 2012 CWNS treatment plant census• Will include basic FRS attributes such as contact info

and other IDs/Permit Numbers and links back to Facility Detail Report

• Will also include value-add attributes not normally in FRS, such as population served and flow

• Will provide as downloadable data and map service
