Preface
Dear Professional, In a world that is becoming more complex & volatile but also more dependent on safe and reliable supply chains for fresh produce, the target to reach operational excellence cannot be realised by individual businesses alone. Realising this, a few specialists from Antwerp have combined forces over the boundaries of their companies and jointly address the future challenges in this domain. The cold chain specialists gather in the Expertise Centre for Fruit & Perishables. Their objective is to improve the specific supply chains of Fruit & Perishables through the Port of Antwerp in a sustainable way by combining knowledge, expertise and efforts
of the Antwerp Port Community. It identifies trends, challenges and opportunities within the sector and then implements targeted actions and campaigns to improve cold chain logistics in a durable way. The Expertise Centre counts over 30 expert members. The passion and commitment of our members reflects in the excellent results of the Port of Antwerp in reefer traffic with an impressive steady growth over the last years.
