Webster HallNamed after former Headmaster DanielWebster, Webster Hall, built in 1853, istoday referred to as the main building.The embodiment of the Academy’s richtraditions and history, the main buildinghouses most administrative offices, aswell as many classrooms.

Bion R. Cram LibraryOpened in 2003, named for Bion R. Cram, Class of 1933, thelibrary is the academic heart of the campus. The buildingincludes a spacious library, four classrooms, computer labs,private study areas and a climate-controlled archival room.In the archives one can view the school charter, signed in1792 by John Hancock and other founding fathers, as well as Daniel Webster’s desk.

Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts CenterOpened in January 2009, the Leura Hill EastmanPerforming Arts Center at Fryeburg Academy provides ouraward-winning music and theater programs with a beau-tiful new home. The center contains a 400 seat theater,two art galleries, and a seminar classroom. With state-of-the-art technology and outstanding acoustics, the centerhosts a variety of student shows, professional perform-ances, guest speakers and class meetings. The center isnamed after Leura Hill Eastman, Class of 1927, through thegenerosity of her daughter Diane Eastman Powell, Classof 1953, and her husband Monte.

Harvey Dow Gibson Recreation Center& Ada Cram Wadsworth ArenaThe Harvey Dow Gibson Recreation Center andAda Cram Wadsworth Arena opened in 2007. Thecomplex is one of the finest athletic facilities inthe state of Maine. It contains three full sized bas-ketball courts, a modern fitness center, eight lockerrooms, a large wrestling room, a trainer’s room,athletics offices and a conference room. All-schoolassemblies, sporting events, practices, schooldances, and physical educational classes are examples of the events held in the arena.

The recreation center is named after Harvey DowGibson – alumnus, benefactor and formerPresident of the Board of Trustees. His legacy con-tinues because of the generous donation of hisniece, Mrs. Evelyn Woodbury. The arena is namedfor Ada Cram Wadsworth, sister of Bion R. Cram.

Eastman Science CenterThe Eastman Science Center houses sixclassrooms and the science office. All classrooms have modern lab stations andare equipped with modern technology.This facility allows our highly qualified science faculty to incorporate experiments,demonstrations, field trips and hands-onprojects into their courses. The EastmanScience center is named after formertrustee Harry K. Eastman, Class of 1921.

Gibson Music CenterBuilt in 1924 as the original Gibson Gym, in 1996this building became the Gibson Music Hall. Arecording studio, several practice rooms, and a largerehearsal and performance area are a few of themodern features of this building. The building’sdesign gives it excellent acoustics.

Dining Hall

Chase HallLocated in the center ofcampus, Chase Hall is cur-rently the home of theCenter for InternationalStudents and the foreignlanguage department. Builtfor use as a girl’s dormitory,Chase Hall was dedicated onJune 10, 1956 in memory ofLeah Barker Chase, FryeburgAcademy alumna.

Athletic fieldsFryeburg Academy has beautiful athletic fieldssurrounded by the foothills of western Maine.Football, lacrosse, field hockey, softball, baseball,track, and soccer are all played on campus.

The Mr. and Mrs. LaCasce Dining Hall, connected to themain building, was built in the mid-1980’s to accommo-date the Academy’s growing population. Our wonderfulkitchen staff serves a wide variety of food to our studentsand faculty. The homemade desserts, weekend brunch,large salad bar, and the monthly dress dinner are just afew of the highlights.

DormitoriesAll dormitories at Fryeburg Academy have twolive-in faculty dorm parents, a common roomwith a flat screen T.V., washers and dryers, andhigh speed wireless internet. We have three boys’dormitories and one larger girls’ dormitory. Mostrooms in the dormitories are doubles; there arealso a few singles, and a couple of triples.
