FDES Volunteers Fast Facts
We have over 300 volunteers who dedicate their time through out the school year.
The Volunteer program is organized and managed by the Volunteer Coordinator and the FDES PTA.
For the safety of our students all volunteers must follow the Volunteer Application process.

Fill out the Dorchester School District Two Application for Volunteer Services, SIGN the back, then return to your child’s teacher.

Complete the Volunteer Training Quiz.
The Volunteer Application and Training must be completed each year you wish to volunteer. The process also has to be completed for each school
you wish to volunteer at.
Volunteer Communications
The most efficient way for the Volunteer Coordinator to communicate with all of our volunteers is through email.
Whenever possible, a reminder email will be sent the day before your volunteer shift.

Volunteer Expectations
Sign in at the front office, as a VOLUNTEER.
Your volunteer badge must be visible at all times while in the school.
Always be prompt, if you have a conflict that arises, notify the Volunteer Coordinator or the Event Chairman as soon as possible.
Help our students SNAP. Model appropriate behavior by showing respect, and acting responsibly.
Be discrete & trustworthy with confidential matters relating to classrooms & students.
Younger siblings are not allowed to accompany volunteers in any role.
Volunteer Expectations Cont.
Please do not disrupt your child’s classroom for personal matters while you are volunteering.
If you need to use the restroom please use the bathrooms in the front of the school, or the restrooms in the work rooms.
To protect the confidentiality of our students, please stay out of the Administration hallway.
Remain in the designated volunteer area. Should an emergency drill occur stay with the class you are in or if in a workroom follow the closest class.
Dress code for Volunteers should be modest. No Spaghetti straps or short shorts & skirts.
What Volunteers are not allowed to do
Volunteers are not allowed to teach students in the classroom
Volunteers are not allowed to grade papers
Volunteers are not allowed access to student records
