I have to smile when I read in St. Paul's Letter

to the Romans, "Owe nothing to anyone, except

to love one another." I smile because I know

that in today's world few people owe nothing to

anyone. We have credit card debt, mortgages,

student loans, car loans, and new loans to con-

solidate old loans. It would seem that we actual-

ly owe everything to everyone. �

These debts are of this world. I am pretty sure

no one residing in heaven is still making mort-

gage payments. We have created contracts in

this world to make possible certain transactions

of goods, services, and shelter. But there is one thing that we

naturally owe one another and that lasts longer than our time

on earth: love. �

You do not need to take out a loan to have more love to give.

There also is no limit to the love you have been given to

share. However, it is the one gift that we sometimes treat

with the least respect. We hold back love due to sins of

pride, prejudice, and apathy. We distort and manipulate love

for our own gain and selfish desires. We can find ourselves

placing more importance on the things for which we have

taken out loans than the love that is eternal.�

I am trying the best I can to get to a point where I no longer

owe anything to banks and mortgage lenders. I don't want to

leave this world owing anyone for the earthly things I had in

this life. But even more importantly, I realize the shame it

would be to leave people behind that didn't get enough love

from me. There is nothing greater than love.�

La corresponsabilidad diaria�

Cada vez que leo la parte en la Carta de San

Pablo a los romanos que dice "No tengan con

nadie otra deuda que la del amor mutuo", yo son-

río. Sonrío porque sé que en nuestro mundo hay

pocos que no le deben nada a nadie. Tenemos

tarjetas de crédito, hipotecas, préstamos estu-

diantiles, préstamos de carro, y nuevos présta-

mos para consolidar otros préstamos. Pareciera

que les debemos todo a todos.�

Estas deudas son de este mundo y estoy seguro

que nadie en el cielo está pagando una hipoteca.

Hemos creado contratos en este mundo para

hacer posible ciertas transacciones de bienes, servicios y hos-

pedaje. Pero solo hay una cosa que innatamente le debemos

a los demás y que dura más que nuestro tiempo en esta tierra:

el amor.�

No necesita sacar préstamo para dar más amor. Tampoco

tiene un límite en la cantidad de amor que tiene para compartir

con otros. Sin embargo este regalo a veces lo tratamos con el

respeto mínimo. No mostramos el amor por nuestros orgullos,

nuestros prejuicios y por nuestra apatía. Distorsionamos y ma-

nipulamos el amor para nuestras propias ganancias y por

nuestros deseos egoístas. A veces le ponemos más importan-

cia a las cosas temporarias, por las que hemos sacado présta-

mos, que al amor que es eterno.�

Estoy poniendo mucho esfuerzo para ya no deberle nada a los

bancos ni deber pagos de hipoteca. No quiero dejar este mun-

do con deudas de las cosas materiales. Pero yo sé que sería

una pena dejar a la gente en este mundo que no recibió sufi-

ciente amor de mí. No hay nada más grande que el amor.�

SAINT THERESE SANDWICH �

PROJECT UPDATE.�

On Saturday September 2nd 32 volunteers

showed up at the parish hall to put together

320 sack lunches for the Midvale Family

Homeless Shelter. After 45 minutes of hard

work we had a light breakfast to celebrate

our 15,000th sack lunch delivered to the

Family Shelter over the past 5 years. We

get together every other Saturday, year

around, at 8:00am for about 45 minutes of

work and fellowship. You are welcome to

join us on the 16th of September.�

This program is flourishing because of your generosity

(remember the little green envelopes) and the support of

friends of the project. �

What goes into 15,000 sack lunches?� Start with 15,000

brown bags, 15,000 napkins, and 45,000 sandwich/snack

bags. Throw in 1500 pounds of ham or bologna, 500 ponds

of cheese, 1800 loaves of bread, 75,000 carrots, 180,000

pretzels/animal crackers, �600 pounds of candy, 75 gallons of

mayo followed by lots of love and over 2000 volunteer hours.�

A humongous heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers (too

numerous to mention) who have donated time treasure and

talent so unselfishly to make this project a miraculous suc-

cess!�

El sábado 2 de septiembre 32 voluntarios se pre-

sentaron en el salón de la parroquia para reunir

320 bolsas de almuerzos para el Refugio para

Familias sin Hogar de Midvale. Después de 45

minutos de trabajo duro tuvimos un desayuno

ligero para celebrar nuestro 15,000º bolsas de

almuerzo entregado al Refugio de la Familia en

los últimos 5 años. Nos reunimos todos los sába-

dos, año alrededor, a las 8:00 am por 45 minutos

de trabajo y compañerismo. Usted es bienvenido

a unirse a nosotros el 16 de septiembre.�

Este programa está floreciendo por su generosidad (recuerde los

pequeños sobres verdes) y el apoyo de amigos del proyecto.�

¿Qué pasa en 15,000 bolsas de almuerzos? Comienza con

15,000 bolsas marrones, 15,000 servilletas, y 45,000 bolsas de

sandwich / snack. Poner 1,500 libras de jamón o bolonia, 500

libras de queso, 1800 panes, 75,000 zanahorias, 180,000 pret-

Community Weddings, celebrating 100 years of faith in Midvale. With Community Weddings we want to commemorate one hundred years of faith in Midvale. According to the Diocesan Di-rectory, what we now know as Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish, began in 1917 under the name of Saint Joseph Mission. From 1917 to 1925, the first Masses were held in a private house on Main Street by Father Timothy O'Brien. Later they were held at the Woodsmen of America / Odd Fellows Hall facility. Afterwards they continued to be cele-brated in the facilities of the Goff Mor-tuary. Parishioners came from as far as Riverton in horse-drawn carriages and in the winter their journey could last up to two hours. In 1925 Father Patrick McGuire was appointed as the first Pastor, and he stayed until 1934. He purchased the land for the Stone Chapel, which was blessed by Bishop John J. Mitty on September 28, 1928. In 1934 Bishop James E Kearney ap-pointed the second pastor Father Jo-seph I. Gosselin, and changed the name to Saint Therese Parish. Years later, there were more changes in the name, until arriving as we know it today, Saint Therese of the Child Jesus (www.littlethereseofmidvale.com) St. John Paul II wrote: "faith is strengthened by giving it, sharing it with others" RM 1). From the beginning of this year the Community proposed to celebrate Community Weddings, to strengthen the faith of many families, without the sacra-ment of marriage. Today we have the honor to offer God, 16 couples married by the Church, to fulfill the words of the let-ter to the Hebrews 13:4 "Let all respect the marriage and not stain the marital union." There are 16 couples, 15 of Mexican origin and 1 of Salvadorian. Congratulations to all couples, their children and family. Some of them today are going to receive their First Communion, after completing their catech-esis in the RCIA program. Celebrating 100 years of faith in Midvale is a historic mo-ment. The parish community has grown a lot and the worldview has changed. One area that needs our greatest pastoral care is the family. The challenge of continuing to make our Saint Therese Parish, a community very strong in faith, can only be possible, if we are persevering and gener-ous parishioners. Prayer: "Thank you, Lord, for the Christian Community which we form today. Thank you, for those who worked in the be-ginning, so that today we can celebrate our faith in peace. Help us to love you more, so future generations can find you here, and to listen with love to your Word and celebrate the Eucharist. Amen.

Bodas Comunitarias, conmemorando 100 años de fe en Midvale. Con las Bodas Comunitarias queremos conmemorar los 100 de fe en Midvale. De acuerdo a los Directorios Dicesa-nos, lo que ahora conocemos como Parroquia Santa Teresita del Niño Je-sús, comenzó en 1917 con el nombre de Misión San José. Desde 1917 hasta 1925, las primeras misas se celebraron en una casa privada de la calle princi-pal, por el padre Timothy O’Brien. Más tarde se celebraron en las instalaciones de Woodsmen of America/Odd Fellows Hall. Después se siguieron celebrando en las instalaciones de la Funeraria Goff. Los feligreses venían de tan lejos, como Riverton, en carruajes tirados por caballos, que en los meses de inviernos su viaje podía durar hasta dos horas. En 1925 el padre Patrick McGuire fue designado primer párroco, quien estuvo hasta 1934. El compró el terreno para la Capilla de Piedra, la cual fue bende-cida por el Obispo Jonh J. Mitty el 28 de septiembre de 1928. En 1934 el

Obispo James E Kearney nombró el segundo párroco, P. Joseph I. Gosselin y la nombró Parroquia Santa Teresa. Años más tarde, hubo más cambios en el nombre, hasta llegar tal como la conocemos actualmente, Parroquia Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús. www.littlethereseofmidvale.com. San Juan Pablo II, escribió: “la fe se fortalece dándola, com-partiéndola con los demás” RM 1). Desde los inicios de este año la Comunidad se propuso celebrar Bodas Comunitarias, para fortalecer la fe de muchas familias, sin todavía el sacra-mento del matrimonio. Hoy tenemos el honor de ofrecer a Dios, 16 parejas casadas por la Iglesia, para cumplir las pa-labras de la carta a los Hebreos 13, 4 “Que todos respeten el matrimonio y ninguno manche la unión conyugal”. Son 16 parejas, 15 de origen mexicano y 1 de El Salvador. Nuestras felicitaciones a todas las parejas, a sus hijos y familiares. Algunos de ellos hoy reciben su Primera Comunión, des-pués de completado su catequesis en el proceso de RICA. Celebrar 100 años de fe en Midvale, es un momento históri-co. La Comunidad parroquial ha crecido mucho y la visión del mundo ha cambiado. Un sector que necesita nuestra mayor atención pastoral es la familia. El reto de seguir ha-ciendo de nuestra Parroquia Santa Teresita, una Comunidad muy fuerte en la fe, solo podrá será posible, si somos feligre-ses perseverantes y generosos. Oración: “Gracias, Señor por la Comunidad cristiana que hoy formamos. Gracias, por aquellos que trabajaron en los inicios, para que podamos hoy celebrar nuestra fe en paz. Ayúdanos a amarte más, para que las futuras generaciones, te encuentre aquí, y puedan escuchar con amor tu Palabra y celebrar la Eucaristía. Amén.
