Classroom ProjectsMs. Pike, Teacher
When you look at the different resources that we have, a lot of them are not as engaging as they could be. So, we looked for
supplemental resources that help make learning fun and resources for education are expensive.
Narrator
Last year, public school teachers spent an average of approximately $500 of their own money to pay for school supplies and
instructional materials needed for their student learning.
Across the U.S., this added up to more than one billion dollars in teacher out-of-pocket expenses.
Dr. S. Greenwood, Principal
It’s just part of being a teacher. If they want added things in their class, they generally have to purchase it on their own.
Narrator
The Fuel Your School Program is an innovative approach created by Chevron and DonorsChoose.org to support education for
public schools, in certain areas of the country, by helping fund eligible teacher projects, giving them the resources to better
engage their students in their education—including projects in STEM subjects: science, technology, engineering, and math.
Dale Walsh, President, Chevron Americas Products
I’ve sat in some of the classrooms that received funding for, whether it was games or science equipment, the tools that the
teachers need to really help teach the kids in a more effective way, and the impact it has on the teachers and the students, when
you see it first hand, in their faces, is absolutely unbelievable.
Carolina Martin, DonorsChoose.org
Donorchoose.org’s corporate partnership with Chevron is simply amazing. We are able to look at the needs that teachers have
for their students and make that happen. And bring books, and bring materials, and computers to life, and really help teachers
during this crisis of budget cuts, and make learning come alive again.

Chevron is making it easy for everyone to help public school students, in certain areas of the country, through the Fuel Your
School Program.
First, public school teachers at schools located in the program’s designated areas submit projects detailing the materials and
supplies they need for their classroom projects at DonorsChoose.org. Then, during the month of October, everyone can help

fund eligible classroom projects by filling up with eight or more gallons at participating Chevron or Texaco locations in select
markets.
Chevron will donate one dollar, up to a certain amount, for each of the program’s participating areas.
Nestor Paraiso, Chevron Employee
For a minimum purchase of eight gallons at a participating Chevron gas station, Chevron will put a dollar into the Fuel Your
School Program.

And then DonorsChoose.org will use Chevron’s donations to help fund eligible classroom projects.
It all comes down to this: we all want the best education for our kids and Chevron’s Fuel Your School Program is supporting
education in various communities by helping students get the supplies they need for eligible classroom projects.
Andrea Bailey, Chevron Employee
Of course, the biggest benefit is the students because they’re the ones that reap the rewards, and they’re the ones that are
inspired, and empowered by the teachers to learn.
Ms. Owens, Teacher
I think I’ve had more aha moments in this classroom since we’ve had more hands-on material, and newer material. The children
are so thrilled to have these, these items in their classroom.
Dr. S. Greenwood, Principal
I appreciate the Fuel Your School Program because it’s benefited our students and our staff to be able to have hands-on science
activities, programs, and projects.
Ms. Vanier, Teacher
Fuel Your School has benefited my school because it’s allowed me to actually think about, “What do I actually want to do with
the students?”—not, “What can I do with the students?”
