Data in the Cloud

The Keynotes November 7
The switch to Cloud is an inevitable change that all organizations must address. The management and storage of data is a key consideration as companies move to Cloud. Fujitsu and NetApp are at the forefront of
this change in the way we use and exploit IT. This keynote overviews how two industry leaders are pioneering and partnering to deliver business benefit for organizations moving to the Cloud.

The expertise of our sales partners in combination with our powerful products and solutions is the key for many successful projects for medium-sized companies . That has certainly proven to be the case over many years . We now want to improve this successful model and develop it further to include new and attractive business opportunities . This specifically means that as of October 1, 2013 we have aligned sales responsibility for channel partners and medium-sized company business into one new division called Channel Managed Account ( CMA ) . Jörg Brünig’s presentation will show the attractive and simplified business opportunities arising from this sales model and how to address end- customers using a very focussed approach .
Society and working environments are changing rapidly, thus affecting the IT world as well. Products, solutions and infrastructures have quickly adapted to trends like alway-on connectivity, work-force mobility and the increasingly blurring lines between working life and private life. Practical consequences can be seen in many products as well as datacenter, work-place and personal mobility solutions. Decision making processes within enter-prises and customer demands undergo equally radical upheavals. How does this consequently affect the channel partner landscape? What concepts and strategies should channel partners consider in order to react to these developments and even benefit from them? Might new opportuni-ties arise from these changes? And how does Fujitsu support its channel partners to achieve their goals?

Leveraging Advanced ICT to Support FujitsuTechnology and Service VisionBusiness model innovation is an increasingly critical discipline for all organizations as they fight to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world . Technology enablement of new entrants , new geographies , new channels and new cross-industry value chains all create new challenges . While cloud services can be a great enabler of agility, they cannot deliver business innovation in isolation – processes must be streamlined , partners must be accommodated and existing systems must be inte-grated or replaced . Fujitsu RunMyProcess focuses on the needs of the changing market and provides a cloud platform for the rapid creation , deployment and operation of agile business applications span-ning systems , environments and organizations in support of new end-to-end business models . Client Testimony: iHeart Studios , large digital content studio , discusses how the RunMyProcess solution enabled them to grow by more than 600 % in turnover in 12 months .

FUJITSU Cloud : Delivering Innovation in a Complex WorldFor many organizations the challenge is no longer about whether to adopt cloud , but how to orches-trate an increasing number of cloud services and integrate them with existing systems . Business leaders understandably want the flexibility cloud delivers , but the organization needs to ensure that appropriate controls and governance are exercised and the risks managed . In this session , Cameron McNaught will set out Fujitsu’s vision for the key role cloud will play in supporting social and busi-ness innovation . He will also explain how Fujitsu enables the CIO and his team to manage the complex IT environment of cloud and non-cloud systems in a way that exactly meets the needs of the business without increasing the IT manage-ment overhead . While the value from innovation in creases , the headache of managing IT only increases . Cameron reveals the answer for managing IT in the cloud era .

Making the Right IaaS ChoiceOrganizations are increasingly embracing Infra-structure as a Service (IaaS ) for their computing , storage and network resources as it offers greater flexibility, costs that are aligned to usage and faster access to resources when needed . But which IaaS is right for your organization : public , private hosted or on-premise private cloud ? This session will look at the key considerations in making that choice – what are the business drivers , is the focus modernization or innovation , what constraints are there around compliance , security data privacy and how do you integrate this with your existing legacy systems .

Andrew BrabbanDirector Application Services , Solutions , FujitsuInternational Business
Transforming Business Agility with Fujitsu RunMyProcessThe adoption of cloud offers both opportunities and challenges for CIOs and IT departments . The clear advantages are ICT on a pay-as-you-use , flexible and quick to adopt basis , and over time it is not hard to envisage a situation where an organization will have anything from 30 – 50 cloud services from different sources . These are likely to be a mix of public and private and increasingly may have been commissioned by a business unit directly. The chal-lenge comes in integrating these systems together and with other legacy and non-cloud systems . On top of this , the organization still needs to protect its data , integrate processes and systems , manage its users and remain compliant – all while control-ling costs and not constraining the business units in being innovative .
In this session Andrew will provide a “hands-on ” demonstration of Fujitsu’s approach to helping the CIO address these challenges of delivering and managing integrated cloud services . We achieve this in a way that enables the business to adopt the solutions they need while ensuring the necessary governance and controls are in place .

Toward Big Personal Data : Balancing Utility and PrivacyPersonal data is a growing problem in the field of so-called Big Data , where data is shared between multiple companies in an effort to drive collabo-ration and new value . In Japan , failing to properly handle personal data has led to service termina-tions and tarnished brand images , not only just for venture companies but major industry players , as well . Moreover, society is on the verge of significant changes in the next few years . In Japan , the My Number (national ID ) system will go into effect in 2016 , and enhanced EU data protection regulations are slated for implementation next year. With respect to these trends in Big Data and personal data , Fujitsu has positioned privacy protection as a key pillar of the security initiatives in its Fujitsu Technology & Service Vision . This session will intro-duce privacy-enhancing technologies from Fujitsu Laboratories that make it possible to balance the protection of data with its utilization.

Outsourcing Improves IT Efficiency for Automotive EnterprisesIn particular, SMEs in the automotive industry are faced by the cyclical fluctuations of the industry with the enormous task of creating more flexible IT – and achieving this with specific process compli-ances , but without compromising safety and availability. As an example , Wirth Systems explains its challenge with statutory requirements of the automotive industry and how this could be solved by outsourcing of their IT operations to TDS , a sub-sidiary of Fujitsu , and how they could even gain more flexibility and efficiency.

Retailing without Walls – Shopping in a NewCustomer-centric WorldFujitsu believes that being a retailer is no longer defined by a store , merchandise and a cash register, it is defined by managing a customer through a shopping “journey,” often with their preferred shop-ping “tools ” ( smartphone personal scanning ) and processes (click ‘n ’ collect , social media networks ). This means retailers are now having to re-engineer their traditional businesses – often with silo brick and click channels – to fit this new customer-centric world . It is what we call “retailing without walls.” In this session , Fujitsu will reveal how it is support-ing our retailer customers “to sell more and sell better” in this new shopping environment . We will present innovative solutions and services , including those from our research laboratories in Japan , which are delivering this cross-channel intercon-nected experience for the shopper, associate and HQ manager .

Using Cloud Integration Services to Exploit and ManageComplexEnvironmentsAs cloud technology matures , the range of solutions available to enterprises is both increasing and becoming more sophisticated . At the same time , many early adaptations of discrete SaaS or platform solutions only provided point benefits while quickly throwing up new problems of integra-tion , consistency and data management . It has always been the case that business solutions are rarely provided by a single system , but in cloud environments the value is increasingly found through the orchestration and management of a complex chain of systems , people and user channels . Such “digital supply chains ” need to be integrated and managed just as effectively as physical supply chains , leading to the need to bring together multiple cloud and on-premise resources to deliver the required business out-come . This increasing sophistication creates more complex cloud environments – which in turn often creates the need for specialized support in their end-to-end design , build and management . Cloud Integration Services are a new category of services that provide the expertise , tools and people required to quickly overcome the challenges of distributed environments and deliver joined up business value from the cloud .

At the same time , in the world of business , the use of audio-visual media has often been limited to very specific appli-cations , such as videoconferencing and e-learning . With advancements in media processing tech-nology and cloud computing/network technologies , however, the situation is rapidly changing . In a wide range of front-end business scenarios , there continues to be growing demand for the ability to keep a better eye on what is actually happening in the workplace by employing AV media to sense , analyze and visualize people and their surrounding environments . Big Data – Extracting Valuable Information from ShadowsofDataAt the heart of most business areas that drive growth – innovation , marketing , sales , customer service – is the need to capture , integrate and interpret information . Big Data is a phenomenon that is based on a vast body of data in its raw material form , sometimes bearing little relation to the reason it was collected in the first place . The value of human and machine analysis of large data sets ranges from social , political and economic intelligence to small actionable insights , which make a high impact on business . Real-time insight is driving a new type of computing architecture . You are building a platform , not a one-off applica-tion . When done right , value doesn’t end with one project .

Leveraging Expertise for More Economic Value fromHPCEngineers , analysts and researchers increasingly seek new potential in HPC . The power of scalable clustered computing allows models to reveal more detail and illuminate areas not accessible or feasi-ble for physical experimentation . Equally, on such systems more virtual designs can be trialed for quality and optimization within a shorter time frame . And the appeal of HPC is now broadening to new sectors and R&D areas , by upscaling from desktops or through businesses adding HPC to their analyti-
cal programs . Given that HPC users face their own challenges – in optimizing designs , interpreting data and discovery – dealing with everyday compli-cations of working with HPC systems , infrastructure and tools should not also be one of them . We present an approach that leverages method-based expertise to aid both new and experienced users to realize the broader potential of HPC .

How Desktop Virtualization and BYOD are Changing Today’s IT LandscapeWorking from anywhere , accessing applications and data from any device and availability at all times are significant factors when it comes to increasing productivity, agility and competitive-ness . However, this raises new challenges for CIOs . Ensuring end-user satisfaction , business continuity and security in parallel requires new solution and service approaches , as well as BYOD policies covering the usage of non-corporate devices.
