WLOUD0675 CHÂTEAU LOUDENNE MÉDOC 2006 114.84 A beautiful red carmine colour. An expressive nose of red fruits enhanced with wooden notes. Tannins are strong, ageing potential wine straight and elegant with a long-lasting finish on the fruit.

WLOUDE0975 CHÂTEAU LOUDENNE MÉDOC 2009 130.44 Showing a deep ruby-red colour, the nose displays aromas of black cherry, raspberry and mocha. The palate has clean flavours of lean dark red fruit to balance and complement well-integrated dusty tannins.

WFOUR0775 CHÂTEAU FOURCAS HOSTEN LISTRAC MÉDOC 2007 142.80 This is 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon. A good fresh colour and youthful. The nose is bright and lifted rather than dense, with a smoky, crunchy-cranberry style of fruit, tinged with a little soot. Still some fresh oak apparent. The palate is as expected for the vintage, lean but fresh, crunchy but firm, classically styled and not overdone.

WCRDB0675 CHÂTEAU ROLLAN DE BY CRU BOURGEOIS 2006 139.92 The wine is kept in the vats for up to 3 weeks before it is heated up to 30ºC and put into oak barrels. This improves the extraction thus giving the wine more structure and complexity. The malolactic fermentation is achieved partly in new barrels (50%).

WCITR0975 CHÂTEAU CITRAN HAUT MÉDOC 2009 152.16 Chateau Citran owns two principal blocks of vineyard, one lies adjacent to those of Chateau Margaux, although it is just outside the appellation, and the other near the town of Avensan. The estate has significant vineyard holdings, stretching to 90 hectares with Cabernet Sauvignon covering 58% and Merlot 42%. The 2009 received 90/100 from Wine Spectator and 15.5/20 from Decanter magazine.

WTEYS1075 CHÂTEAU TEYSSIER ST EMILION 2010 151.68 Teyssier is owned and run by the dynamic larger than life Jonathan Maltus, producer of top St-Emilion cult wine Le Dome (£1,000 a case+), with the assistance of Gilles Pauquet, oenologist at Cheval Blanc. A wine we have been following for some years. Delicious and one of our 'must have' 2009's that is exceptional value. Drink 2013-24. "The 2009 Teyssier possesses a dense ruby/purple colour as well as smoky barbecue notes intermixed with crème de cassis, black cherries, and earth. Ripe, generous, and medium to full-bodied, it should drink beautifully young yet age for 10-12+ years." Robert Parker, 89-91

WCHBEAU0975 CHÂTEAU BEAU SITE ST ESTEPHE 2009 162.60 Beau Site is a classic St. Estèphe, displaying good levels of ripe black and red fruits, as well as firm and meaty tannins. A traditionalist's claret.

WHAUTB1275 NEW CHATEAU HAUT BAGES MONPELOU PAUILLAC 2012 Available Autumn 2014 166.56 2012 Pauillac is not going to make anyone forget about 2010 Pauillac or 2009 Pauillac. But it does not need to. The wines are not for long term drinking, which is a good thing for fans of Pauillac, which often takes a decade or decades before they are ready. 2012 Pauillac is not a powerful vintage, the wines are on the light side, but with freshness to the fruit.

WKIRW0775 CHARMES DE KIRWAN 2007 179.40 This is the second wine of Ch. Kirwan and is a great introduction to the joys of Margaux. Good colour, sweet berry fruit on the nose, with a little oak. Rounded texture.

WCHBEAU1175 CHÂTEAU BEAU SITE ST ESTEPHE 2011 166.56 This is sweet and beautiful, with a lovely combination of ripe tannins and pretty fruit. Full-bodied, but balanced and long. But the second sip, it really grabs you. One to look for. 24 percent Merlot, 70 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 3 per cent cabernet Franc and 3 percent Petit Verdot. WHAUTB1175 NEW CHATEAU HAUT BAGES MONPELOU PAUILLAC 2011 166.56 Soft, warm fruit on the nose. Subdued, thick chewy fruit, dense, ripe and very finely toned. Hints of oak.

WPONT0975 CHÂTEAU POTENSAC MEDOC 2009 208.80 "The 2009 is probably the finest Potensac ever made, eclipsing even the stunning 1982. This blend, dominated by both Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, hit 13.9% alcohol, but pH is a normal 3.38. Dense, rich, and full-bodied with lots of freshness, the wine reveals abundant red and blackcurrant fruit, a distinctive minerality, and a plush, full-bodied mouth feel. It should drink well for 10-15 years." Robert Parker, 89-91.

WLYM1275 NEW CHATEAU LYNCH MOUSSAS PAUILLAC 2012 Available Autumn 2014 261.84 Really interesting, quite a grand style. Lovely, intense fruit perfect level of gloss and ripeness - longish and polished, seductive fine tannin finshes this off well. Good solid if not terribly serious Pauillac.

WSIRA0975 CHÂTEAU SIRAN MARGAUX 2009 229.68 Cabernet Sauvignon 45%, Merlot 48%, Petit Verdot 7%. Big, sweet fruit on the nose, damson jam and alcohol-macerated cherry, not a surprise when you look at the percentage of Merlot. Big creamy character on the palate, firm tannins and moderate texture. Decent acidity. Overall rather a robust style.

WBATAI1275 NEW CHATEAU BATAILLEY PAUILLAC 2012 Available Autumn 2014 274.20 The vintage’s freshness is immediately obvious but it soon fleshes out to show itself as a fine Batailley in the model of 2004 or 2008, rather than more luscious recent years. This will need time but will certainly reward.

Bordeaux Red continuedWMEYN0975 CHÂTEAU MEYNEY ST ESTEPHE 2009 243.84 Showing attractive notes of dark cherry and spice on the nose and the palate. The tannins are finely expressed and ripe, providing the structure for the glossy core of dark berry fruit. There is an attractive freshness here, with a hint of stony minerality. A classically-proportioned St-Estèphe in this vintage. Drinking: 2014-2022.

WLYN0975 CHÂTEAU LYNCH MOUSSAS PAUILLAC 2009 261.84 Former property of the Irish family Lynch, ranked fifth Classified Growth, the château Lynch Moussas is located in the west of Pauillac and extends on 30 hectares of Garonnaise gravel. The vineyard is mostly planted with the aromatic Cabernet Sauvignon with a small percentage of Merlot.

WKIRW1275 NEW CHATEAU KIRWAN MARGAUX 2012 299.64 This muscular, firmly structured, intense, powerful 2012 exhibits an attractive ruby/purple color along with aromas of flowers, black currants, vanillin and a hint of graphite. A modern styled Margaux with plenty of muscle, firmness and a more tannic structure than other wines of the appellation, it will benefit from several years of cellaring and can be drunk over the following 12-15 years.

WLODP975 LES ORMES DE PEZ ST ESTEPHE 2009 267.48 A sleeper of the vintage and the best Les Ormes de Pez made in decades, this opaque purple-hued 2009 offers up pure crème de cassis fruit intermixed with hints of charcoal, smoke, and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied and pure with good freshness as well as a soft, layered mouth feel, it will offer delicious drinking over the next 10-15 years. (Robert Parker - Wine Advocate - April 2010)

WFERR0975 CHÂTEAU FERRIERE MARGAUX 2009 265.08 Fine dense red, quite lifted, fragrant berry fruit, good concentration and extraction all in an elegant Margaux style, supple with an attractively firm finish. (Steven Spurrier - Decanter - April 2010)

WLALB975 CHÂTEAU LALANDE BORIE ST JULIEN 2009 201.36 The finest wine I have ever tasted from Lalande Borie, the 2009 (50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc) displays lots of purity along with a boatload of blackcurrant, raspberry, and black cherry fruit, no evidence of wood, broad, rich, deep flavours, and a velvety texture. It should drink well for a decade or more. Robert Parker, April 2010, Score: 88-90

WBATAI1175 NEW CHÂTEAU BATAILLEY PAUILLAC 2011 291.84 Robust, rather earthy fruit, then a touch of violets to lift it and a hint of leather, good wine, good future. Drink 2015-2025.

WLPAG975 LES PAGODES DE COS 2009 456.60 The Pagodes de Cos is the "second wine" of Cos d’Estournel. Rich and aromatic, Pagodes de Cos 2009 has a beautiful red robe with purple tints. The nose is full of fruits (blackcurrant, plum...). The palate is elegant and well-balanced this is a fine wine that will be ready to drink in 10 years. An exceptional second wine.

WTALB0975 CHÂTEAU TALBOT ST JULIEN 2009 456.60 This is the most impressive Talbot wine since the 1982 and 1986. It reveals an opaque plum/garnet/purple colour as well as knock-out aromas of black fruits, cedar, incense, liquorice, and a Provencal garrigue-like character. Substantial, sexy, and seductive, it is almost slutty in its exuberance and ostentatiousness. It was a thrill to drink this loaded St. Julien. It should offer irresistible drinking over the next 20-25 years. (Tasted two times.) Robert Parker - Wine Advocate - April 2010)

WLAG0975 CHÂTEAU LAGRANGE ST JULIEN 2009 470.76 A very dark, crimson-black rim. Sweet fruit on the nose, damsons and cherries. Creamed fruit on the palate, very well composed, with lovely acidity too. It has a very fresh bite to it, welcome in view of the exuberant fruit. Well covered tannins, slightly savoury, fresh, yet intensely rich and really quite spicy. An attractive wine.

Bordeaux White

WSAUTRO37.5 SAUTERNES, BARON PHILIPPE DE ROTHCHILD HALF BOTTLES 89.04 Quite expressive, fresh and sweet, clean, clear, with minerals, honey, flowers and white fruit (pineapple, apple) also a touch of vanilla, wood and a hint of rhubarb, quite deep, complex, elegant and refined, very beautiful, great purity, well balanced and classy.

Recent Bordeaux Vintages2012 - It was a challenging vintage for the Chateaux all the way from the start. With difficult conditions at every stage, from uneven flowering / bud set to an unusual coldand dry summer it resulted in a late harvest, which was 2-3 weeks later than normal. It’s hard to place, compared with other vintages. The young vines Merlot on theright bank (St Emilion and Pomerol) did exceptionally well and will probably produce wines as good as the exceptional 1998 vintage. With it’s soft, ripe tannins and lowacidity these are wines that will be accessible and drink early like the 2007’s, however they have much more fruit concentration and are better than the 2007’s.

2011 - An average year with the best red wines coming from Pomerol and St. Emilion that could be described as classic. The wines are fresh, bright and acidic and focusmore on red fruit than darker berries. It’s another very successful year for Sauternes. For most wines, it’s an early drinking vintage.

2010 - Very good year for wines from all Bordeaux appellations. Tannic, powerful, structured and rich, the best wines need 15-20 or more years to develop. Margaux,Pauillac, Pessac Leognan and St. Emilion are the best regions. Sauternes was also successful. Hold

2009 - Great year with a wonderful style. The wines are ripe, sexy and lush. Pomerol, Pauillac, Pessac Leognan and St. Estephe produced the best Bordeaux wines. Hold

2008 - This is a mixed vintage with some good wines, but not great wines. Pomerol and Pauillac were the most successful regions. Prices remain fair for the quality. Hold

2007 - Overpriced, early drinking vintage. Drink or hold

2006 - Powerful, tannic, broad shouldered wines that require cellaring. The best wines came from the Pomerol, the Medoc, especially Pauillac and Pessac Leognan. Hold

2005 - This is a stunning vintage from top to bottom in all appellations and in all price ranges. If you have the money, this is one of the best Bordeaux vintages to lay downin your cellar. These stunning wines will only get better and more expensive. Hold

2004 - This is a moderately priced vintage with some attractive wines, but not great wines from both banks. Drink or hold.

2003 - An interesting vintage with some stunning Bordeaux wines that were produced in the northern Medoc appellations of Pauillac and St. Estephe. Some strong wineswere produced in St. Emilion from heavy limestone soils. Avoid 2003 Pomerol wines. The vintage lacks consistency. But at the top end, 2003 Bordeaux wines are stunning.Sauternes was also strong in this vintage. Drink or hold.
