Colors describe the complexities of life. The color red, for instance may mean a
lot of things. To some, it may holdnegative feelings such as rage or anger, but to many, it is the color of love and
passion. Eversince, it has been the colorrepresenting HEARTS’ DAY. So if red is
everywhere, it means love is in the air.

Without minding too much about the chi l l ingtemperature, grade school students of SSIS Batangas wentout for their annual camping at Bluroze Farms, Parks, andWildlife in Lodlod, Lipa City last January 22-23.
The first day of camping was attended only by gradesfour to six students who had a lot of fun hurdling challengesset out by the Center for Outdoor Recreation and EducationCo. (CORE). To strengthen camaraderie, team presentationshighlighted the campfire.
The next day was even more fun as grades one tothree kids joined in. They were given a separate set of activitiessuitable to their age and physique.
The second day was a little more challenging forgrades 4 to 6 campers as they had to do rappelling and wallclimbing. Such were really thrilling experiences not only forstudents but for teachers who tried.
SSIS Camping is held annually not just to promotecamaraderie among students but to give opportunities forthem to learn responsibility and independence. Meanwhile, the names of the teams and students who stood out in thechallenges are as follows:

When the weather changes, it is the time that we often come down withviral or bacterial infections. There are a few simple steps we can take to helpprevent sickness.
Dress for the weather: Dress appropriately, especially when you are planningto be out for a couple of hours. It is best to dress in layers so that you canremove or add layers to keep yourself comfortable through the day.
Eat a balanced diet: Make sure that you have well-balanced meals. A gooddiet can give you the vitamins and minerals you need to help fight infections.
Pay attention to hygiene: Wash your hands — a lot. No matter what line ofwork you’re in, if you come in contact with people who are contagious, youhave to wash your hands over and over, says Alan Pocinki, MD. Pocinkipractices internal medicine at the George Washington University Hospital inWashington, D.C.
It sounds so simple, but soap and water are the constant companions ofdoctors and nurses. To completely get rid of viruses from your skin, you needto scrub hard for 20 seconds or more. A good way to time yourself is to sing“Happy Birthday” twice while scrubbing the backs of your hands, betweenyour fingers, and under your nails. It doesn’t matter if the water’s hot or cold— the very act of scrubbing will physically remove the germs.
Try to avoid getting close to people who are sick. For example, don’t shakehands. The easiest way for you to get sick is by catching the bug from aninfected person. Illnesses can be passed on from one person to the nextthrough mucus, most often by sneezing or coughing.
