THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE IN THE CANTON OF VAUD!Opera, chanson, jazz: the canton of Vaud has music in its blood. Led by the Montreux Jazz Festival and Paleo Festival in Nyon, there are countless music events mostly during the warm season. The Cully Jazz Festival kicks off the music season in spring, opening the winegrowers’ cellars to jazz virtuosos. The magnificent Roman arenas of Avenches vibrate to the sounds of the Opera Festival, the Rock Oz’Arènes and then to Avenches Tattoo, a unique event in French-speaking Switzerland.
As the headquarters of the IOC and many sports organisations, the canton of Vaud provides the setting for prestigious sports events such as Athletissima in Lausanne or winter sports competitions in the resorts of the Vaudois Alps. On the more unusual side, Château-d’Oex welcomes hundreds of hot-air balloons in January during the International Hot-Air Balloon Festival.
Dancing in Lausanne with the Béjart Ballet, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, enjoying nature in Morges with the Tulip Festival, and taking in the magic of Montreux Christmas: all-year-round celebrations to suit all tastes.
The dates shown are those confirmed at the time of going to press. However, the dates indicated are subject to change. We recommend checking them on the website of the event.
