CLFOct. 13, 2002
Why Have a Field Trip?
• Provides a fun learning opportunity for your class.
• Offers your students something “special” to invite friends to.
• Gives you the chance to include parents in a learning activity for your class.
• Provides a “hands-on” learning activity to reinforce learning objectives of your class.
• Other reasons why?
The Spot
• Pick a spot that will be closer than an hour away.
• Make sure the location has been kid-tested.
• Keep the cost down.• How much time does it take to see the
sight or participate in the activity?
Transportation
• The best transportation is parents themselves.
• Church van or bus....available for you!• Chartering a school bus is also an option
(for a LARGE group)
Steps to Using & Reserving the Church Van
• You must reserve the van EARLY!– “Vehicle Requisition” – either online or from
church office.– Putting gas in is your responsibility.
• Fueling instructions are available upon request from the church office.
– Picking up the keys is your responsibility.– Vehicle must be left in better shape than when
you picked it up.
The Parent(s)...The Key!
• Parents will make or break your trip.• Let parents know at least 3 weeks in
advance of your upcoming field trip.• Inform parents of:
