Pourvegetableoilintoaclean,plasticbottleuntilit

isabout3/4full,andthenfilltheremainderofthe

spacewithwater.Add10to15dropsoffoodcolor

ingormoreuntilthemixtureisadarkcolor.Cutthe

Alkaseltzertabletintoeighths,andthendropit

intothemixtureonepieceatatime.Allowthe

piecetocompletelydissolveandstopbubblingbe

foreaddingthenextpieceofAlkaseltzer.

UseTableSalttoMakeaLavaLamp

Pour3to4inchesofwaterintoaglassjarandthen

add

several

drops

of

food

coloring.

Fill

the

remain

derofthejarwithvegetableoil.Rememberthatoil

andwaterdon'tmix,andaftersittingforafewsec

ondstheoilwithformalayerontopofthewater.

Addseveralteaspoonsoftablesalttothelayerof

oil.Thisshouldthickentheoil,causingittodropto

thebottomofthejar.Theoilwillfloattothetopof

thewaterafterthesaltstartsdissolvinginthewa

ter.Shakeadditionalsaltontotheoilandtheproc

esswillrepeat.
