DESCRIPTION

The strongest feelings cannot be placed on a page, but I want to create a recurring record of the good times. I’d like to make this an ongoing zine.

... but my memory is hazy.

and if this is any indication of the next 12 months to come, I’m going to be having unusually good luck. It’s uncannily warm and everybody is hungover at Atlantic Street without any desire to leave. We talk about going to Cityside, but no one has the motivation. It’s so warm that I’m sitting out on the curb eating a grapefruit in a t-shirt. We open the windows in Sarah’s room and put on Fleet Foxes and she and Nolan and I fall asleep slowly in this weird circle on her floor.

IT’S NEW YEAR’S DAY

Tina comes over and we start to search for things on youtube with the laptop with the broken rainbow screen that Michael found on craigslist. Everything that we search for is a random string of words that comes to mind and the results are gold. Michael comes out wrapped in an American flag with a bunch of stuffed animals tied to each other and stuff. Someone starts playing a boom box and so we all do some dances and Cory comes out of his room because he wants to know what the hell is going on in here.

Sarah and I lock the door to her room and compare lists of messed up situations and then start drawing animals and it becomes a contest to see who can draw the grossest boobs. Michael also becomes a judge / participant. There is no winner.

It’s a really hot day in early spring, so most are skipping classes to lay around at Dane Street beach. All of us are taking off our shirts and wading in, so I do too even though all I’m wearing is a bra. Mack and Nichole are getting ice cream or italian ice from a truck. Tom and I are trying to recreate that crystal castles album cover (with less clothing on).

I am going over to kelly’s because she and dan need someone to drive them to find pig’s blood, but we don’t know where to get it, so we just end up going to market basket and getting a lot of things to dip in chocolate. Kelly has been waiting to use the chocolate fountain and we keep telling dan to wear purple or something because he hates it. Justin and tyrone can’t hang out because they are too busy breathing, but really Justin is there and tyrone is imaginary and it is all great. We can’t finish all of the fruit and cake and pretzels and things so we invite Brian over. Shane comes home with McDonald’s and dips his fries in the chocolate fountain. We don’t put vaseline on his door or anything else. We don’t make ketchup cheesers either, but we talk about making them. In the end, we all just share really embarrassing childhood memories and almost pee with laughter from all the true talk about peeing.

I found a bunch of cassette tapes so we are going to re-cord on them, except that when we play them back all of them are filled with fuzzed out 1920s pop songs that play backwards. Since they are scary and unexplainable, we decide to put the tape player at full volume in different concealed locations throughout the kitchen: the oven, the ghost closet, the cabinet under the sink. The next step in our plan involves shutting off the lights and hiding while we watch people creep in.

We sit in the kitchen and play them and act like nothing is going on when Michael and Suzy show up and they don’t say any-thing, just join in, and so does Jordan when he gets home from work. Amber is there too and she puts on the creepy mask that they found down the street and tried to suspend from a lamppost and someone gets under the table for a bit. Brian has a great straw sun hat that is pretty fabulous. The tapes are also good for wandering around and playing some music for the neighborhood and inside convenience stores at night. And for calling Luke to tell him what we are doing so he can tell us

but we love it.
