FUN TIMES AT THE GRADE 5/6 CAMP IN
PHILLIP ISLAND
Camp 2019
We faced our fears
We had fun
We pushed ourselves
We swung from 18 metres in the air
We flew on the flying fox
With that said, camp was an excellent experience
“I liked team rescue be-cause of the obstacles that we had to overcome and everyone was able to contribute” - Miles
“It was scary the thought of swinging 18 meters in the air but it was really fun in the end”- Maddie
“Crushing Russell in an intense game of uno was my highlight” - Amelia
Thank you so much to the people who took some time to organise this fantastic event! We enjoyed it so much and it couldn’t of been better!

Choir Eisteddfod Performers Shine!
On Sunday 26 May, at Hawthorn Arts Centre, the Richmond PS choir
took part in the City of Boroondara Music Eisteddfod. We competed
in the Primary choir section, as we have done for the past few years.
The songs we sang were ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’, a Scottish/Irish
ballad, and ‘A Dark and Stormy Night’, a tribute to the horror writer,
Edgar Allen Poe.
We were one of 9 school choirs who took part, and while we did not
finish in the first three this time, we all gave of our best and gave the
huge audience a lot of pleasure with our singing. Our hard work over
the past month was worth it. (The adjudicator loved our T-shirts. And
the scream!)
We had all a great time, and we look forward to more opportunities
for choral singing!

LEA WATERS—Positive Psychology
Earlier this term, Dean, Cassie, Simon and myself attended the
network Principal Conference. One of the guest speakers was
Lea Waters. She has a PhD is a professor, published author,
psychologist, internationally-celebrated speaker and one of
the world’s leading experts on Positive Education, Positive
Organizations and Strength-Based Parenting and Teaching.
She spoke passionately about Positive Education and Strength Based Par-
enting and how she uses it as a parent. Her recent article in Wellbeing World
Magazine's Summer 2019, describes the benefits of strength based parenting
for parents and children. Lea will be doing a free presentation to a cluster of
Richmond schools in August. I believe her positive approach to parenting is
one that would resonate with many in our school community and there
would be something all of us could take away. Stay tuned for more infor-
mation and a confirmed date and venue.
