Holding the Ukulele
Right Hand
• The right hand should be positioned with the finger tips over the sound hole and the body of the uke tucked under the arm.
Left Hand
• The left hand should hold the neck of the instrument with the thumb braced against the center of the neck and the fingers of the uke tucked under the arm. of the neck and the fingers arched over the fret board.

Finger Strumming
• For playing chords, you can use your index finger to strum, brushing the nail over the strings on the the strings on the downs troke and the pad of the forefinger on the up stroke.

Using the Pick
• Hold your wrist parallel to the strings and pick with a smooth back and forth sweep of the wrist, using only the tip wrist, using only the tip of the pick to pluck the string. Avoid tilting the hand or wrist to “scoop” at the strings.
