GCSE and functional skills
• The new GCSE criteria do not feature a structural change to the qualifications, and therefore will not require that learners pass level 2 functional skills assessments before they can achieve
grades A* - C
• New GCSE specifications will require learners to demonstrate functionality as part of their GCSE
• New school report card is likely include a requirement to report on FS
• It is still strongly recommended that all learners in schools take the functional skills qualifications

Functional Skills in Diplomas – policy and practice
1.How will the delivery of functional skills be managed within the Diploma framework across your organisation/consortium?
2.How will all learners beginning Diplomas achieve the appropriate level in all three functional skills?
3.How will the quality of functional skills teaching and learning be monitored across organisations/consortium
