Arbory Afloat. Inspired by the pastel tonality, rich culture and relaxed poolside art-deco sensibility of Miami and bringing it to the North-bank of the Yarra River.

Arbory Afloat is an oasis that takes in the surrounds of the Yarra River and spectacular view of the CBD skyline and Arts precinct that has become a haven for locals and tourists alike in Melbourne’s warmer months.

Our events team have carefully curated both food and beverage packages to suit any occasion whether it be a sophisticated celebration, casual work event, Christmas party or birthday party. Boasting a number of unique spaces suitable for groups of different sizes, the spaces aboard Arbory Afloat have been designed specifically with sun drenched drinking sessions in mind, allowing guests to mingle with a mixture of seating and standing space. The jewel in the Arbory Afloat crown this year is undoubtedly the Upper Deck and is one of the most unique spaces in Melbourne. Boasting a private bar, custom-made cabanas and day beds for lounging as well as a swimming pool, this space is ideal for larger groups looking for that wow factor. This space works best in a cocktail style format with a mixture of seating options as well as plenty of space for guests to mingle and dance the night away.

Filled with a diverse range of seating options, the western deck is suitable for large groups looking for a semi private space with relaxed lounge style seating, Miami style day beds and high bar tables. With the option for a private bar, the Western Deck is ideal for large cocktail style events surrounded in lush greenery and an unmatched view of the Yarra River.

With an elevated view of the Yarra River and Afloat below, the space in our Upper Deck is designed for those wanting an exclusive event and are out to impress. With access to our entire food and beverage menu the options are endless.

100—130 guests

Enjoy a cocktail while sitting pool side in the Afloat Pool Deck. Suitable for larger functions, this space has exclusive access to the pool, alongside a private bar, cabanas, and pool beds. Dip your toes in, sit back with canapes and cocktails, and bask in the sun.

150—250 guests (exclusive)

Executive chef Nick Bennett has created a menu inspired by the diverse melting pot of cuisines in Miami that celebrates the food culture of Latin America, the Caribbean, Cuba and Mexico.

The menu will dish up American inspired wood-fired pizzas, an array of grilled meats and share friendly dishes with a strong focus on Australian seafood. These elements have been carefully incorporated into our function packs, ensuring guests experience the best our menu has to offer.

Arbory Afloat is accessible via the lift opposite federation square and Transport bar. Take the elevator down to the bottom, turn right and follow the north bank to Arbory Afloat.

Arbory Afloat is located on the Yarra River, near Flinders Street Station, making it easy for you to get there and away. Head East along the platform towards the Swanston St. exit and turn right. Before crossing Princes bridge, head down the stairs and follow the path to Arbory Afloat… A refreshing spritz awaits.

by tram

Tram numbers 8, 72, 67, 64, 6, 5,3/ 3a, 16 and 1 all stop outside Federation Square and Flinders St. Station. The 70 or 75 will also take you to our door. Get off at the Flinders & Elizabeth St. stop & take a wander underneath Flinders station towards the Yarra River. Arbory Afloat will be on your right.

Car parking is available at Federation square car park, with entry via Flinders St. and Russell St. Alternatively, Car parking is conveniently located underneath the NGV via the entrance on Southbank Boulevard. Arbory Afloat is a short walk from both.

by boat

Berthing and tie up facilities are available alongside Arbory Afloat if you choose to arrive by your own boat. Alternatively our friends at Melbourne boat hire have a fleet of water taxis ready to take you on a scenic trip up the Yarra River. terms and conditions

requirements

We require a minimum of 30 guests to proceed with a cocktail function. Arbory Afloat can cater from 30–1000 guests for a cocktail event.

Guests are required to partake in a food package and a minimum spend will be applied. All functions on our Upper Deck require a beverage package.

Functions are not available on Friday and Saturday nights. We do however cater for afternoon functions and have limited space available at 4pm on these days. Please enquire with our events team for availabilities.

We require majority of your guests to arrive within 30 minutes of your event time. Unfortunately we are unable to hold spaces past this time if your guests have not arrived.

tentative bookings

We can place a tentative hold on the date for up to 7 days, after the period has lapsed we will contact you, if it becomes unsuccessful we have the right to remove the tentative hold.

deposits and final payment

A deposit is required to confirm the date of the function; the deposit amount is based on the total cost of all food expenses.

Deposits can be paid by EFTPOS, credit card, or direct debit. Unfortunately we are unable to offer on-site payments.

A signed booking agreement is required when the deposit is made. Deposits are non refundable within 2 weeks of the function date.

The final payment for the minimum spend or total of event must be paid 1 week prior to the function. Arbory has the right to charge you the minimum spend if the party does not reach the amount agreed upon on the day of event.

final selection

Cocktail events: Menu items from the function menu must be selected at least 7 days prior to the event.

Beverage Package: Beverage selection must be selected 14 days prior to the function.

Any changes in guest numbers or menu selections once the function details have been confirmed will need to be approved by the function manager and are subject to availability.

rsa policy

All staff are trained in Responsible Service of Alcohol and by law reserve the right to stop serving anyone that they deem to be intoxicated.

Arbory takes Responsible Service of Alcohol obligations seriously. In the unlikely event a guest is asked to leave due to intoxication or antisocial behaviour, no refund can be offered. A five-hour time period is the maximum time functions can be booked.

audio and visual equipment

The venue is unable to provide dedicated facilities for audio and visual functions.

Guests are unable to provide their own music and as such music will be provided by Arbory Afloat. The volume of music is unable to be adjusted or isolated to specific areas of the venue. This will be dictated by Arbory Afloat on the day.

space

Functions will be allocated a designated space for the duration of the event. This will be determined at the time of booking and is subject to availability. None of the spaces offered by Arbory Afloat are fully private/exclusive, however guests will have sole use of the space allocated to their event.

Cocktail events are booked in spaces that allow some guests to be sitting some standing in a cocktail style format. We are unable to move or adjust our furniture or layouts.

We are unable to allow any theming or decorations at Arbory Afloat due to our location, and the high potential of environmental damage.
