Definition
A nurse is a person who is trained to give care (help) to people who are sick or injured. Nurses work with doctors and other health care workers to make patients well (not sick) and to keep them healthy.
Nursing is the art and science that involves working with individual , families, and communities to promote wellness of body, mind, and spirit.
History
Florence Nightingale was an influential figure in the development of modern nursing.
No uniform had been created when she was employed during the Crimean War. Both nursing role and education were first defined by Florence Nightingale.
International nurse day: is celebrated around the world on 12 May of each year (12/5) as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale.
Specialties
Nursing is the most diverse of all healthcare professions. Nurses practice in a wide range of settings but generally nursing is divided depending on the needs of the person being nursed .The major populations are:
