This is your first step in the journey to kickstart the lives of vulnerable children in Kenya.

You’ve joined a great community! You are now connected to volunteers & fundraisers across the globe, including Australia, United Kingdom, Kenya and Canada.

We love Fundraisers like you! Why? Because you are the good people who become our best ambassadors and create unique ways to fundraise and spread awareness of Kickstart Kids International.

We don’t want you to go it alone so we have pulled together this DIY pack which we hope will help and encourage you get amazing results…plus even attract other individuals within your workplace, school, university and wider community to do the same!



FUNDRAISING IDEAS

We are proud that our DIY Fundraisers have hosted some inspiring, fun and unique ways to raise funds and awareness.

There are so many ways you can fundraise! You might do something all of your own design - a morning tea, your first 5km run without stopping, or a girls night in. Or you might join others in a large event such as the City to Surf, the Colour Run or, if you’re really committed, an Ironman!

Here are just a few ideas to help you create your awesome fundraising event:

Note: These events may be aligned to a specific charity, but you can also choose to enter these events and then set up your own Fundraiser for Kickstart Kids! Great news!

GETTING SET UP

Once you have decided on your type of fundraising event, getting set up could not be easier! Just follow these simple steps:

We recommend you put aside 15 minutes to complete this short set up guide.



SETTING TARGETS

Not sure on how much you could raise? You might be surprised.

Smaller fundraisers (a single BBQ for instance) will typically raise $300 - $400. A sports challenge or a group trivia night can raise upwards of $2,000. If you are doing a large event and are particularly active at posting on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, you could raise $10,000 or more! Set an ambitious goal and go for it, but don’t worry if you fall a bit short of your target - every single dollar you raise helps to

One in every ten children in Kenya today is orphaned vulnerable. These children are in vital need of support to ensure they have not only the essentials for life, but a chance to go on to achieve a bright future as they grow into adulthood. By fundraising for Kickstart Kids International you will be making a significant contribution to helping us support and empower these beautiful children.



Share your page on Facebook, Twitter & your social networking sites (click on "Share this page" button on your Fundraising Page) Post your Facebook

updates at times when people are most likely to check their news feed (breakfast, lunch time, drive time, During My Kitchen Rules).

Update your fundraising page; i.e. Change your photo and edit your personal message.

Email your work colleagues & ask your employer to dollar match you.

Message your entire address book, even people you don't speak to regularly will donate.

Donate to yourself. If you haven't already, put your money where your mouth is & make a donation too (HINT: donate the amount you would like others to donate)

FUNDRAISING TIPS

Add your link to your email signature (& highlight it!). Make every email you send an opportunity to receive donations.

Regularly update people with your progress. Email them about your training & progress & remind them to donate.

Post regular updates and reminders on Facebook. If you do this from your fundraising page it will include a ‘Donate Now’ button right in your post!

Remember that readers are several times more likely to click on posts with photos or videos than those which are text only.

Keep posting on social media.
