Install Guide SQL 2008 ExpressThis document lists the required steps to install SQL 2008 Express. Blackbaud recommends the use of SQL 2008 Express with Fundware 7.60 Professional. Blackbaud provides a copy of SQL 2008 Express with the FW76.EXE download from Blackbaud.com. Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and MSDE are NOT supported with Fundware 7.60. Please Note: Fundware 7.60 Professional must use SQL Express Fundware 7.60 Enterprise must use SQL Standard

To install SQL 2008, you will need to perform the following:

Please contact Fundware support for your Fundware 7.60 registration number

• Confirm SQL 2000\MSDE has been removed if previously installed • Login as the local administrator on the Fundware Server • Download and install Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 • Download and install Windows Installer 4.5. • Download and install Windows PowerShell 2.0

• Browse to the SQL Server Management Studio install directory. Double-click SQLEXPRWT_x86_ENU.exe *Default location is ...\install\SQL 2008 - Express\SQL Server 2008 Express\SQL 2008 Express with tools

• On SQL Server Installation Center screen click on Installation on the left and click on New SQL Server stand-alone installation on the right


• On the Setup Rules screen click OK




• On the Product Key Screen enter the product key and click Next

• On the Setup License Terms screen check the box “I accept the licensing terms and conditions” then, click Next




• On the Setup Support Files screen click Install

• On the Support Rules screen if no rules fail, click Next




• On the Feature Selection screen, click SELECT ALL and change the drive location to the D:\ drive (If applicable) then, click Next

• On the Instance Configuration screen, insure the instance is set as NAMED INSTANCE, and change the name of the instance to MSSQLSERVER then click Next




• On the Disk Space Requirement screen, insure you have enough diskspace for SQL 2008 and FundWare then, click Next

• On the Server Configuration screen, on the Service Accounts tab, for the SQL Server services, select “NT Authority\System” for Account Name and Start-Up type as Automatic. Change the SQL Server Browser service to Automatic then, click Next




• On the Database Engine Configuration screen select the `Mixed Mode' radio button, enter an SA password. It should be a complex password. Make a note of the password as well; you will need it during the FundWare installation. Click ADD CURRENT USER to add the local administrator to the “Specify SQL Server Administrators” box. Add other users as your company policies deem necessary then, click Next

• On the Error and Usage reporting screen, click Next




• On the Installation Rules, insure all rules have passed. If any failed, generated a warning or were skipped, click the View Detailed Report and fix anything as needed then, click Next

• On the Ready to Install screen, insure everything is correct. Fix anything that may be wrong then, click Next




• On the Install Progress Screen click Next

• On the Completed Screen click Close
