Furman is the second SoCon team to face the Razorbacks this season (Samford on Feb.9). Arkansas is 3-2 against SoCon teams in program history. The last SoCon team to defeat the Hogs was Chattanooga in 2015 (L, 7-3 on Feb.15). Last Time Out The Razorbacks continue their nine-game homestand after a doubleheader sweep of Wichita State on Wednesday (April 10). Arkansas run-ruled the Shockers, 9-1 in game one behind a six-run sixth inning with a game-ending single by Sydney Parr. The Hogs needed only four runs in the third inning to defeat WSU in game two, Katie Warrick hit her eighth home run of the season to score three runs and give Arkansas the lead and the win. In the Polls After a tough weekend in Gainesville, the Razorbacks are hold- ing steady in the polls, cruising into Week 9 sitting at 26th in the NCAA Women’s Softball RPI, and ranked #18 by USA Today/ NFCA, #17 by Fastpitch News, #22 by Softball America and re- ceiving votes in the USA Softball/ESPN poll. This Time Last Year Through 42 games this season, the Hogs are 28-14 and 6-9 in the SEC. At the same point in the 2018 campaign, the Razor- backs were 33-9 and 10-7 in conference play. If The Tournament Happened Today The Razorbacks are currently ranked 10th in the SEC (6-9, .400) and they would be set to face the 7th seeded team in the conference which is currenly Florida (6-6, .500). All 13 teams will be eligible for the SEC tournament this season, with the 1st-4th seeds earning a first-round bye. Storms Named SEC Pitcher of The Week Junior Autumn Storms was selected as the SEC Pitcher of the Week after a 3-0 performance last week, including a com- plete-game shutout of No. 18 Kentucky on Friday (March 29). She went on to only allow two runs in game three of the series, helping the now No. 14 Ra- zorbacks to their sixth-straight conference home series win. 10 Years at Bogle The 2019 season marks the 10th season in Bogle Park - since its opening, the Hogs have played 248 games inside the park, for a combined 138-110 record. Home Run Nuggets Nine different Hogs have hit home runs in 24 different games this season, going 20-4 in those games. Seniors Ashley Diaz and Katie Warrick are the only Hogs to hit a home run in a game and Arkansas not win, four of Diaz’ six home runs came in games in which the Razorbacks lost. cess at the plate also puts her on track to move into second for career RBI (has 126, needs 131), and one sacrifice fly from the number one spot (has 9, needs 10).

Saturdays are for the Hogs Arkansas is 9-3 when playing on Saturdays, falling only to Drake (Feb. 23), No.18 Kentucky (March 30), and No. 8 Flor-ida (April 6). The Razorbacks have outscored opponents 71-50 in Saturday match ups, recording two shutout wins over Lipscomb (Feb. 9) and Tennessee (March 23) and one run-rule win over SIUE (15-3, Feb. 23).

Just Keep Running, Just Keep RunningArkansas has looked to three different Razorbacks to add speed to the bases this season: freshman Sam Torres, soph-omore Keely Edwards, and senior Carley Haizlip. Together the trio has contributed 26 runs with Torres leading the pack with 10 runs.

Season Longs and Active Streaks McEwen has earned a hit in all but six games this season, reaching base safely in all but four. Hannah McEwen capped off a 26-game reached-base streak at No.5 Tennessee on Sunday (March 24). McEwen also built a 14-game hit streak as well, the longest by any Hog this season. Six different Ra-zorbacks have had on-base streaks of at least 10 or more games at some point in the season.

Lights Out in Knoxville Mary Haff recorded a career-high 15 strikeouts against the Lady Vols in game two of the series (March 23, 2019). Her K-count was a then game-high among SEC pitchers this sea-son. She is currently ranked 4th in Division 1 for Strikeout-to-Walk Ratio (8.60) and as a team, the Hogs are ranked 3rd (5.84).

Stellar Comeback The Razorbacks strung together seven-runs in the sixth in-ning of Saturday’s game against #16 South Carolina, to erase a four-run deficit and defeat the Gamecocks and secure the series with a 7-4 victory. The seven runs is the most scored in an inning by the Hogs this season and was highlighted by back-to-back home runs, a go-ahead grand slam by Ashley Diaz and a solo by Aly Manzo.

What Doesn’t Duncan Do? When Nicole Duncan arrived in Fayetteville last year - she was under the impression she’d be seeing most of her PT from be-hind the plate, but Duncan has now started in 39 of the Hogs’ 42 games, seeing PT as a catcher, second baseman, and third baseman. Since becoming a starter, Duncan has has scored 14 runs, and tallied 12 hits, 10 RBI and 2 home runs. She’s a target at the plate with 15 walks and team-high 14 HBP calls as well.

History Made Sophomore Danielle Gibson made history on Saturday night (Feb. 23) when she rocketed four home runs in Bogle Park in the 15-3 win over SIUE. The four home runs tie an NCAA record reached only five times before, but what makes Gibson

special is that she hit for the home run cycle - done only twice before EVER, and in only four innings... a feat special to Gibson alone. Her 4 dingers and 10 RBI stand as a single game record in Division I softball in 2019.

Circle is Always Haff Full Haff was an all-star on the mound for the Hogs during the Wooo Pig Classic, walking only one in over 22 innings of work. Her success in the circle has earned her SEC Pitcher of the Week (March 4). Haff recorded 34 strikeouts in five appear-ances for a cumulative .62 ERA. She gave up no free bases on balls in four of five games, bringing her season total to nine appearances (seven starts) without a walk. She allowed only eight hits and pitched a complete, one-hitter against Omaha on Saturday (March 2). She tallied her first save of the season against Nevada.

New Face in the Crowd Junior transfer Lauren Graves made her first appearance as a Hog on Saturday (Feb. 23) against SIUE. She transferred to Arkansas after two years at Maryland. Graves has since re-corded five Ks in 8.1 innings pitched.

Gibson Rakes in Awards with Stellar Weekend Gibson’s record-breaking weekend brought more than recog-nition, it also came with USA Softball Co-Player of the Week, SEC Co-Player of the Week, and NCAA Play of the Week. The USA Softball award is the first for Arkansas since 2017.

Career Night for Storms Junior right-hand pitcher, Autumn Starts pitched a complete 7-1 win over SEMO in the Hogs’ season opener on Thursday (Feb. 21). Storms recorded 13 strike outs in the victory, a season-high for the Razorbacks and a career-high for the California native.

May the Fourth Be with You The Razorbacks have outscored opponents 44-23 in the fourth inning through 42 games - knocking seven of their long balls out in the fourth. Arkansas has been outscored in the 7th inning only (9-12). The Hogs have outscored all op-ponents, 206-143.

The Week 1 --> Week 2 Upgrade The Hogs closed out week one with a .290 average at the plate, tallying 38 hits on 32 runs and gave up 21 strike outs. With slight changes, the team regrouped and in week two batted .371 (+.081), recorded 43 hits (+5), rattled off 14 multi-base hits (+2) and gave up only 15 Ks (-6).

Back in Bogle Arkansas returns to Bogle Park for the first time since hosting the Fayetteville Regional, 275 days ago. In 2018, the Razor-backs were 27-2 at home, winning every series and dropping one game to Missouri (Mar. 24) and Alabama (Apr. 13). Since her arrival in Fayetteville, Coach Deifel is 53-28 in Bogle Park.

Multi-Hit Monsters Through 42 games, 11 different Razorbacks have recorded multi-hit games. Seven Hogs have recorded ten plus multi-

As part of the their 2019 schedule, the Razorbacks are set to play 32 home games at Bogle Park and will face 18 teams overall that played in last year’s NCAA Tournament, including nine that advanced to the Super Regionals.

MEXICAN ROUNDUP Arkansas made its first trip out of the country this past week-end, visiting beautiful Mexico for the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. The Razorbacks claimed wins over North Dakota State, Northern Colorado and Sacramento Stats, while drop-ping a 3-2 heartbreaker to #5 Washington.

Puerto Vallarta All Tournament Selections Cali-girls Autumn Storms and Kayla Green were both select-ed to the PV College Challenge All-Tournament team. Green finished with a .556 average at the plate, an improvement of over .350 points since a .200 average in week one. She tallied five hits while hitting three RBI and scoring two runs. Green also knocked out her first home run of the season against UNC. Storms appeared in three games for the Hogs, allowing not a single earned run and recording a save in Ar-kansas’s win over Sacramento State. Against UNC, Storms se-cured an 11-0 run-rule win with only 47 pitches.

MAKING HISTORY... OVER AND OVER AGAIN The Razorbacks made history in 2018 when they hosted an NCAA Regional and went on to earn the program’s first trip to an NCAA Super Regional. Now, as they prepare for the 2019 season, the historical firsts keep rolling in, which include a preseason prediction of a fifth-place finish in the SEC. Ar-kansas also earned a program-best rank by USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and ESPN/USA Softball, where they were ranked 12th and 14th respectively.

THE MICHAEL JORDAN OF SEASON OPENERS Friday (Feb. 8) marked the beginning of the 23rd season of Razorback softball. Overall, the program is 11-12 in season opening games. Arkansas has never hosted a season-opener, and has only played two in the Pelican State, going 1-1 in those games. Since her arrival in Fayetteville, Deifel is 3-1 in season openers, dropping the 2016 season-opener to Texas (4-1).

MARY HAFF, BACK IN ACTION The Winter Haven, Fla. native posted a 29-7 record on a 1.51 ERA last season as a freshman. She was named to the All-SEC Second Team and All-SEC freshman team following last sea-son; in addition to being named a Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year Top-Three Finalist. --- Flash forward to 2019, and Haff has found herself among the best in the nation, named to the top-50 watch list for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

Four Razorbacks Land in Top 100 Sophomores Mary Haff (18), Hannah McEwen (40) and Dan-ielle Gibson (62) and junior Ryan Jackson (99) have all been named to Softball America’s Top 100 Player Rankings. While 2019 marks the first year in cardinal and white for Gibson and Jackson, Haff and McEwen will be building off of two out-standing freshman campaigns. McEwen led the Razorbacks last year, yielding a .339 average at the plate and 57 RBI.

UNFAMILIAR GROUND The Hogs’ season opener at the Cowgirl Classic marked just the second time in head coach Deifel’s Arkansas career that the Razorbacks have been in Louisiana. Arkansas dropped its 2018 series to LSU in Baton Rouge. The Hogs 5-0 record in the tournament sets Deifel at 5-3 overall in the state of Lou-isiana.

Courtney Deifel became the fourth head coach in program history when she was hired June 11, 2015. In two seasons at Arkansas, she has orchestrated the Razorbacks’ return to postseason play, capping the 2017 campaign by earning a spot in the SEC Tournament and selection to the NCAA Tournament.

In her third season, Arkansas wrapped up the year with a 42-17 record, the third most wins in program history; and the highest number since 2000. The team earned the program’s first-ever NCAA national seed and hosted the Fayetteville Regional on its way to securing a spot in this weekend’s Norman Super Regional. For their efforts, the coaching staff earned 2018 NFCA Division I South Region Staff of the Year. The team also finished 17th in the final NCAA RPI.

Two seasons removed from a one-win conference tally, the Razorbacks posted a 12-12 record in SEC and earned a No. 7 seed into the SEC Tournament where the team made a run to the semifinals for the first time since 2001. The Razorbacks finished the season with a 27-2 record on their home field, established a new program record for home wins in a single season. Part of Arkansas’ home tri-umphs included the program’s first three-game sweep of a ranked team (No. 20 Mississippi State) and its first-ever series win over Alabama.

In her second season in Fayetteville, Deifel guided Arkansas to a 31-24 record which marked a 17-win improvement from the previous season, marking the largest increase in the country among Power 5 programs. The Razorbacks also tallied seven wins in SEC play, equaling the combined to-tal from the previous three seasons. In recognition of the team’s performance, Deifel was named the 2017 D1Soft-ballNews Coach of the Year.

From year one to two under Deifel, Arkansas’ pitching staff lowered its combined ERA by more than four runs (6.98 to 2.82) and added more than 20 points to its batting aver-age (.260 to .284). The Razorbacks also led the SEC and tied for 17th in the NCAA with 59 home runs. During the year, Arkansas earned its first national ranking since 2013 when it was slotted at No. 24 in the March 7 release ESPN/USA Softball poll.

Individually, Deifel saw two Razorbacks earn NFCA All-South Region accolades with Nicole Schroeder and Autumn Storms earning second-team and third-team honors, re-spectively. Storms was also named to the SEC All-Fresh-man Team while A.J. Belans was voted to the All-SEC Sec-ond Team. Schroeder went on to be drafted by the Akron Racers as the program’s second NPF selection.

Deifel’s first win over a ranked team at Arkansas came during the 2016 season when the Razorbacks knocked off No. 23 Nebraska, 11-10, during the Easton Tournament in Fullerton, Calif.; the team added five ranked wins in 2017. The 2016 campaign also saw newcomer Ashley Diaz make an immediate impact as a member of the NFCA All-South Region Second Team. She also appeared on the NFCA Na-tional Freshman of the Year Top 25 Watch List.

During her playing and coaching careers prior to coming to Arkansas, Deifel advanced to 11 NCAA Tournaments including a four-year run to the Women’s College World Series (WCWS) as an All-American catcher at California that was highlighted by winning the 2002 national title. The Bears also finished second (2003), fifth (2001) and seventh (2000) at the WCWS over her four-year run. Her postseason successes also featured a pair of Super Re-gionals as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma and five NCAA Regionals as an assistant at Maryland and Louisville.

As a first-year head coach, Deifel ushered in a culture of change for Maryland in 2015. Along with the program’s 16-game improvement from the previous season, the Terrapins’ offense show tremendous growth. Maryland fin-ished 27th in the NCAA with 6.28 runs per game behind 339 runs scored, up more than 150 runs from 2014. Deif-el also led her team to a .309 batting average, a 40-point jump from 2014 which also ranked 57th in the NCAA.

Individually, Deifel guided three players to all-conference accolades and a pair of NFCA all-region honors. Lindsey Schmeister was an All-Big Ten first team performer while Shannon Bustillos and Erin Pronobis landed on the All-Big Ten second team. Probonis and Corey Schwartz were also named to the NFCA All-Midwest Region Third Team. Under Deifel’s watch, the trio helped Maryland to single-season school records in doubles, home runs, RBI and walks.

Prior to taking the head job at Maryland, Deifel spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Louisville in which she helped the Cardinals to four NCAA appearances, the 2014 American Athletic Conference Tournament title and an overall record of 176-60 (.746). Louisville averaged 44 wins in that time with a program-record 55 wins in 2012. Her student-athletes at Louisville racked up four NFCA All-America certificates and 29 all-conference selections.

Deifel played in 285 games in her career at California, missing just three games behind the plate over her four years. As a four-year starter behind the plate, she was a 2003 All-American, two-time All-Pac 10 selection and caught seven no-hitters. She is still the program’s career leader with 1,969 putouts.

Aside from her accomplishments in collegiate softball, Deifel had a successful professional career following her days at Cal. In 2004, she helped the NY/NJ Juggernaut to the National Professional Fastpitch (NPF) league title. De-ifel also spent three years with LeoPalac21 in Japan that resulted in a runner-up showing and a pair of third-place finishes.

Deifel and husband Joe are the parents to two sons, Trip and Walt. The family resides in Fayetteville.
