1. What
There has been a number of incidents involving staff working in tight or congested areas around scientific equipment or site infrastructure which have resulted in relatively minor bumps to heads.

Why The cause of these incidents include:•A working environment where there are bump hazards from equipment and plant;•A lack of care and attention while working in areas where there are bump hazards; or•Lack of awareness and failure to recognise the hazards and wear the appropriate protective equipment: safety helmets, bump caps.
3. Learning When undertaking or managing the work of others, including contractors:•Ensure that bump hazards are marked with warning tape or covered with protective foam; and•Remember to wear protective equipment – lighter bump caps may be more appropriate than helmets.
