Are you ready for a challenge and an opportunity? As conference Vice-President, my team and I would like to offer both. We have prepared one of the most unique combinations of sessions and workshops available to you across North America.

As Project Managers and/or Business Analysis Professionals, you are often tasked with managing teams, predicting shifting scenarios and ensuring careful direction, all while understanding the importance of the bottom line. Our conference, ProjectSummit*BusinessAnalystWorld is designed to create scenarios that deliver these skill-set enhancing situations.

Whether it’s through classroom-style sessions by recognized experts and innovators or peer-to-peer casual conversations, the learning process will be natural and above all, fun!

Along with gaining knowledge and making new acquaintances, it’s important to remind you that we are a PMI® and IIBA Registered Education Provider. Attendees can claim one credit for every hour of education, up to 19 in total over 3 days, which goes a long way to renewing your certification.

I encourage you to take advantage of all the learning and networking opportunities this event provides. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions!

COMMUNICATION LAND MINES! COMMUNICATION CATASTROPHES AND HOW TO AVOID THEM

FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT. HOW DO YOU FIGHT FAIRLY FOR SUCCESS, ESPECIALLY FOR YOURSELF?

Extremely upbeat, funny and very energetic. This Keynote is very short on theory and very long on practical application as Marty walks you around the land mines lurking on: -The Phone -Voicemail -E-mail Your professional credibility hangs in the balance! Based on Marty’s book, practical tips and techniques for making material improvements in communication ability are in store for the entire audience. Expect a dramatic increase in your ability to articulate yourself with credibility and authority as well as an immediate increase in overall communications confidence.

In a successful project structure, the Business Analyst and the Project Manager are equals, and they are in conflict. The Business Analyst and the Project Manager serve as checks and balances on the progress and outcome of the project. This means that those two roles will, and should, be in conflict on many points. How that conflict is resolved may dictate the success of the project. Of course, when you are playing both roles, Project Manager and Business Analyst, how do you engage yourself in that conflict? This Keynote reviews the inherent and healthy conflict between the Business Analyst and Project Manager and offers suggestions for playing both roles at the same time.

THE CREATIVE STORM FOR PROJECT PROFESSIONALS: HOW TO IGNITE CREATIVE LEADERSHIP AND LEAD INNOVATION IN THE NEW ECONOMY

MUTUAL RESPECT – YOU MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

According to a study by IBM, CEOs cited creativity as the most important leadership quality. As a result of the digital transformation, Creative Leadership is becoming a sought-after Project Management style. It’s the “Next Big Thing” in leadership for accelerating innovation and driving change. Using real examples, Nelson will explain his Nine Forces Of Creative Leadership™ and draw upon his own personal experiences and projects working with Project Managers for over two and a half decades.

Disrespect happens. No matter how we reinforce expectations for workplace respect, every workplace encounters those who become workplace nightmares. If ignored or handled badly, bad behavior can devastate a project, team or organization like a wildfire. If handled early and effectively, relationships and workplace culture will be enriched. This makes disrespect management critical – it takes skill to effectively avoid arguments, clarify misunderstandings, deal with disputes, and repair relationships. Simply put - disrespect requires intervention and direct conversations. The Keynote provides leaders with tools for approaching and resolving disrespect issues before they become full-blown conflicts. Participants will learn how to assess the situation early, maturely and how to change the context of the conversation. The Keynote helps leaders use direct conversations to take the initiative to confront the problem. Critical to disrespect management, participants will develop strategies for changing the context of conflicts from negative to positive, from disrespectful to appropriate. Participants will learn how to turn a disagreement into an opportunity to provoke learning and enrich relationships.

Sounds like the start of a good story. The most common problem facing Agile practitioner isn’t the basics – it’s how it all fits together on a typical project. How does an Agile project get started? Once it’s gets started, how do you plan it in sprint zero? How do you pull an Agile sprint back from the brink of failure? What’s the best way to show status on a sprint? In this workshop we take you on a ride through a typical Agile project with all the turns and twists along the way from planning, epics, theme, user stories, backlogs, spikes, status

and risk. Resource Management issues? We got that covered too. Understand how the pieces of Agile fit together into a process and how to use it effectively. Learn how a Busi-ness Analyst and Project Manager can fit into Agile. Bring your toughest situations. Let’s roll up our sleeves and work through them in this interactive journey through an Agile project. This workshop is designed for intermediate to advanced Agile practitioners.

Sharp, compelling presentation skills are some of the MOST important skills in a BA’s toolbox. Communicating complex messages to a group effectively; that’s the trick. Presentation skills can be career-makers. So why is fun, relevant, and immediately applicable presentation skills training so scarce? NOT ANYMORE. Join us as we relax and master the basics (and secrets)

of presentation skills. From content creation to confident delivery, you will make improve-ments in real-time. Newbies, seasoned pro’s, prepare to make the jump to presentation light-speed. *Seriously, no videotaping. If you want to be recorded, we’ll hold your phone for you.

BUSINESSANALYSIS SHARED

With disruptive forces assaulting organizations from every direction, creativity has been la-beled the single-most important business attribute. Project Managers now face the reality of managing projects to produce and create faster, cheaper and better. In this entertaining, highly practical, and interactive

program, Nelson emphasizes that the key is to not fear risk – or change - and draws upon his personal experiences and projects working with Project Managers for over two and a half decades.

More and more, roles in organizations demand more technical savvy. Everyone is talking about digital transformation. Technology is rapidly changing to meet those needs and in turn, is changing how we need to approach our roles and the requirements that drive product changes. The term “Technical require-ments” is not an industry standard yet but

they seem to be cropping up more and more. What is the best way to handle these technical requirements? Who should own them? How can we analyze them? Are you ready for your technical future? Come join us for a fun-filled day to learn about technical requirements, discover what they really are, are not, and how to document them.
