It’s high time we factor nature in our growth otherwise we can safely assume that we will be factored out of Nature’s plans. Ever since civilisation started, humans have strived to establish large settlements, and provide themselves with all the needs, comforts, safety and luxuries - unfortunately, at the cost of nature. This irreversible exploitation of natural resources was and continues to be looked up on as growth, especially over the last 200 years of rapid industrialisation and unchecked urbanisation. Sustainable growth has become the need of the hour and if we are to achieve this we need people with the right knowledge, attitude and behaviours.

Hence, at FutureSake our aim is to create a generation that has a symbiotic relationship with nature, ultimately leading to a more liveable planet. We believe that shaping the mindset of young generations in schools is the first step towards creating this future.

We look forward to having you on board.

FutureSake is a youth centred urban sustain-ability fellowship program. It is a unique platform for young Indians to gain exposure to the challenges of urbanisation and take up initiatives that make their own communities sustainable. We empower youth today so they can build the smarter cities of tomorrow.

We do this by engaging students through travel, simulations, projects and internships that equip them with the mindset required for a smarter future.

Today, 54 percent of the world’s population live in urban areas, a proportion that is expected to increase to 66 percent by 2050. Projections show that urbanisation combined with the overall growth of the world’s population could add another 2.5 billion people to urban populations by 2050.

In India, about 30 people will migrate to major Indian cities every two minutes from rural areas in search of better livelihood and lifestyle. It is estimated that by the year 2050, the number of people living in Indian cities will touch 842 million. To accommodate this massive urbanisation, India needs to find smarter ways to manage complexities, reduce expenses, increase efficiency and improve the quality of life.

“We don’t inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”

The program

ER | Review Exercise

LE | FutureSake and the City in a Garden

Once the students get to Singapore, they rest, relax and kick start the program with a grand & high spirited FutureSake Opening. Maintaining this energy they jump into the Lion City with a night tour, combining three adventures to experience the best of Singapore by boat, bus and foot. They will enjoy a Singaporean dinner, watch an amazing light and sound show at Gardens by the Bay, take a fully narrated hop-on hop-off bus tour to sites such as the Bugis St shopping corridor, and admire gorgeous views on a bumboat ride from Merlion Park to Marina Bay Sands.

The first stage of the program helps a student observe, explore and analyse the spaces and practices in their school. The purpose of this exercise is for students to familiarize themselves with the use of energy & water and understand the waste management practices in their school premises.

We are four pragmatic individuals who believe that travelling and interacting with the world has been the most powerful learning experience in our lives. We want the youth of today to take up such experiences, understand the world and make it their playground. EDUYatras has been the latest

chapter of our lives, 5 years and still traveling!

We envision co-creating a knowledge society, one which constructs, shares, and uses information for the prosperity and wellbeing of its people. The desired outcome of all our work has always been to build leaders, who can take on complex and pressing global challenges. There is a pressing need

to solve them all, one by one. We are rooted to this highway of challenges & enlightenment.
