Exceptional DryingIn a Space-Efficient Design

Miele G 7893 OverviewAlways an innovator in glassware reprocess-ing, Miele is the first manufacturer to developa 24" wide glassware washer that incorpo-rates true HEPA-filtered forced-air drying. The new G 7893 allows labs to automaticallywash and completely dry glassware right atthe lab bench, while requiring minimal space. This eliminates the need for a bench-topoven for drying, and means that your glass-ware can be washed and dried all withinabout an hour.

The G 7893 is designed for laboratorieswhere space is limited, yet complete, partic-ulate-free drying of glassware and fast turn-around are required. No drying oven is need-ed, as the G 7893 contains a powerful inte-grated drying unit with a genuine HEPA filterthat guarantees the purity of the air used. Foryou this means less handling of glasswareand less time waiting for your glassware tobe available for use.

HEPA-Filtered Forced-Air Drying Miele's HEPA drying system provides a fastermore complete drying result than gravityconvection drying found in many glasswarewashers. Drying times and temperatures(from ambient to 99°C) are fully adjustable tomeet the demands of whatever is beingdried. An integrated steam condenser aidsthe drying process by condensing moist airand sending it to the drain. As a result, nopotentially hazardous vapors are vented intoyour lab.

When combined with injection baskets, heat-ed forced-air blows throughout the chamberand through injectors into each individualpiece of glassware for complete drying evenin difficult narrow-necked items such as vol-umetric flasks or pipettes.

For user safety, a cool-down step can be pro-grammed at the end of the cycle to ensurethat glassware is safe to handle. With thecompact G 7893, the HEPA filter is conve-niently located in the front of the machineand can be replaced by opening the servicehatch for simple removal of the filter.

3

Optimized TurnaroundThe G 7893 provides effective glasswarecleaning and drying as well as exceptionalcapacity and throughput within a compactfootprint.

With appropriate baskets, a lab techniciancan load up to 66 narrow-necked flasks, 96pipettes, or over 1200 test tubes in a singleload which results in an exceptional opti-mized turnaround of glassware.

Leading Machine FeaturesSuperior Cleaning

Superior Cleaning ResultsMiele washers employ a delicate balance offour factors to ensure exemplary cleaningresults. Through a careful balance of washtime, water temperature, water circulationand spray pattern, and specific cleaningagents, Miele systems provide effective andrepeatable wash results. Independent testresults demonstrate that Miele washers areeffective for removal of a wide range of sub-stances including metals, and do this withoutleaving trace levels of the substances ordetergent. Test result copies are availablefrom Miele.

Flow Meters & DI Rinse CyclesComplete elimination of residue is bestachieved by one or more heated DI waterrinse cycles. The G 7893 features a DI waterconnection with the ability to heat the waterup to 93°C. Typically 1-3 DI water rinses aresufficient, but the washer can be pro-grammed to utilize pure water for any or allsteps if desired. Miele combines this withflow meters for all incoming water types, which allows extremely precise filling andvarying of fill volume by program step. In thisway, wash programs are factory optimizedfor water conservation and can be furtheradjusted in the programming mode.

Standard Built-In Water SoftenerSoft water provides improved cleaningresults and is gentler on your washer. For this reason, the G 7893 is equipped with abuilt-in softener system for tap water. Thiseliminates scaling and enables your deter-gent to work at peak efficiency. The Mielesystem can be adjusted to compensate forthe hardness of your local water supply. Ifincoming water is already soft, the systemcan simply be deactivated. Once the systemis set to your water hardness, no program-ming is required. Simply add salt when the“recharge softener” light comes on and thewasher does the rest.

Advanced Filter SystemThe G 7893 features a 4 stage sump filter system to prevent debris from re-circulatingand distributing onto the wash load. Filters areupstream of the circulation and drain pumpsto protect and extend pump life. The four fil-ters include a surface filter, course filter, a finefilter and a micro-fine filter with a mesh size ofjust 0.25 mm. Filters can be easily removed forcleaning without the use of tools.

Additionally, the water inlet hoses supplied byMiele include mesh filters to capture any particulate material within your tap water priorto entering the machine.

Leading Machine FeaturesSuperior Construction and Design

Stainless Steel ChamberMiele stainless steel wash chambers are builtto withstand the rigors of a demanding labo-ratory workplace. Because heated DI water, chemical residues, and cleaning agents canattack the wash cabinet itself, special caremust be taken to construct a chamber that isexceptionally corrosion-resistant.

With Miele, the chamber walls and ceiling areconstructed of 304 stainless steel, while thefloor and door (which take more of a beating)are constructed of high-grade 316 stainlesssteel for added corrosion-resistance.Surfaces are polished and seams are laserwelded from outside of the wash chamberminimizing spots where corrosion can occur.

With Miele, the wash chamber and entire cir-culation path is built to handle 18 megohmheated DI water, without risk of damage orcorrosion to the washer. Miele machines areknown to perform year after year without anysign of corrosion.

Water Delivery SystemThe G 7893 features a high-volume circula-tion pump that is rated at 106 gallons perminute. This high turnover rate of water iscombined with a low spray pressure to pro-vide effective cleaning action while remainingexceptionally gentle to prevent delicateglassware from being broken.

The Miele circulation pump ramps up tospeed slowly ensuring delicate items will notbe broken by a sudden blast of water. Thepump also includes a speed sensor. In theevent of improper pump speed or a completeblockage, the machine automatically shutsdown the pump and alerts the operator. These features ensure valid wash results andextend the pump life.

In addition, G 7893 also features an inde-pendent pump for drainage. A separate drainpump ensures that with each wash stepresidue is sent to the drain and not redistrib-uted onto the wash load, reducing the possi-bility of cross-contamination.

Standard Steam CondenserThe G 7893 is equipped with a steam condenser, which eliminates the need forexternal machine venting and keeps poten-tially hazardous vapors from venting into thelab during operation.

This system condenses water vapors andsends them down the drain. The steam condenser assists in providing fast dryingresults, ensures minimal heat output intoyour lab, and simplifies the installation of thewasher.

High Water TemperaturesIn general, hotter water provides more thorough cleaning and rinsing in a shortertime period. The G 7893 can heat wash andrinse water up to 93°C. Water temperaturescan be adjusted for each heated water fillproviding maximum wash flexibility. Miele’s6000 watts heat up the wash water at nearly4 times the rate of some other brands, ensur-ing that wash cycles will be completed in areasonable amount of time regardless oftemperature selected.

Water temperatures are closely monitored bydual NTC sensors to ensure valid and repeat-able wash results. If water temperatures areout of range an alarm condition will occur, since temperature is one of the critical fac-tors in ensuring analytically clean glassware.

Waterproof System to Protect Your LabThe Miele G 7893 is designed for years oftrouble-free performance, but in the unlikelyevent of a leakage, the machine is equippedwith a unique Waterproof System.

Should your G 7893 ever develop a leak, asafety device on the incoming water line willautomatically shut off the water supply, acti-vate the drain pump and alert the user.

Miele achieves this with double-wall waterinlet hoses and a solenoid device that isattached to the water inlet valve. Any leaksthat occur to the hoses or the washer willsend water to a drip pan located in the baseof the machine, which is equipped with afloat switch that becomes activated byincoming water.

The float switch will automatically send a sig-nal to the water supply to shut down thewater, and activate the drain pump. A faultsignal will also alert the operator to the prob-lem. The Miele waterproof system is one ofmany unique features that set it apart fromother brands.

The Strong and Silent TypeWhile the G 7893 will clean even your toughest lab residues from your glassware, itremains exceptionally quiet in the process.Washing at just 52.9 dBA, you will hardlynotice when the G 7893 is running, allowingyou to converse in the lab without distrac-tion. In fact, your casual conversation (atabout 65 dBA) will be substantially louderthan the G 7893 cleaning your glassware.

All critical systems such as pumps, flowmeters, temperature sensors, air filters, water softening system, and liquid dis-pensers are monitored by the controller. Errorconditions are indicated by means of analpha-numeric code that appears on theLCD. Some examples of the 40 conditionsthat could cause an alarm are:

• The wash temperature is not achieved• No liquid chemicals are dispensed• Salt is needed for softener• Circulation pump is not rotating• HEPA filter requires changing• No water is entering washer• Heating out of acceptable range• Machine is not draining properly

By notifying you of specific machine condi-tions, you are assured of a valid wash routineand fast troubleshooting of mechanicalissues. In this way, you can identify the condition and take care of it as quickly aspossible.

Simple ControlThe Miele Multitronic control system is pow-erful yet easy to use, providing quick accessto all program functions and indicators. Torun the machine, the operator simply turnsthe machine on, selects the desired washprogram and presses the start button.

Through the expertise of the MieleApplication Laboratory, the G 7893 isequipped with a selection of eight standardcleaning programs to deftly handle a widerange of laboratory cleaning challenges.Wash programs developed specifically forlaboratory applications such as “Organica”and “Inorganica” have been field-proven inthousands of laboratories worldwide.

These standard wash routines are ideal forthe vast majority of cleaning applications. For added flexibility, the control system fea-tures the custom program slot to include awash routine with customized wash andrinse temperatures, or to add wash stepsand modified holding times. Should yourcleaning application require special atten-tion, our application specialists will work withyou to guarantee the best programming foryour specific needs.

Advanced CleaningProgram selection is accomplished through asingle, easy-to-use dial, enabling an operatorto use the machine even when wearing pro-tective gloves.

The Multitronic display and alert system hasbeen designed to provide clear and conciseindication of all machine actions. Thealphanumeric LCD can be toggled to displaywash program step, temperature, or timeelapsed.

At a glance, the wash step indicator clearlyshows what stage the program is currentlyin. The display also shows fault codes, alert-ing technicians of an impediment to the washperformance.

Completion of the wash program is indicatedboth on the display and acoustically with theincluded buzzer, helping alert staff when theglassware is ready. System malfunctionssuch as drain or fill errors, are signaled bothvisually, and audibly using the error faultlights and buzzer.
