Jackie Beriman was severely reprimanded for failing to arrive on course to fulfil her engagement in Race
3.
Race 1 - JUPITER ESTATE AGENTS MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres:
I Boogi (NZ) - reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground (six lengths) and must now
gain further approval prior to racing again. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the
home straight.
Our Boy Leo - when the paced eased near the 700m began to over-race and had to be steadied.
No Woody - when the paced eased near the 700m began to over-race and had to be steadied.
Race 2 - MARTIN COLLINS ENTERPRISES MAIDEN PLATE - 1400 metres:
Danza Kuduro (NZ) - late withdrawal by order of Steward at 9.44am when it was established the mare
had not been scratched by the prescribed time and an inquiry has been adjourned into the matter.
Coltan - began awkwardly.
Harmeal - near the 1000m became tightened for racing room before being checked when Valle Noce laid
in and away from Coltan which had shifted ground in. In all the circumstances Stewards could not be
fully satisfied that the interference was caused fully by the actions of Brian Werner (Coltan) however
severely reprimanded him for shifting ground when not clear. When racing greenly on the home turn,
became tightened for racing room when General Sussex shifted in before being straightened by its rider.
Approaching the 200m was carried out by Valle Noce and as a result had to be steadied by its rider.
Battle Ensign - approaching the 800m became unbalanced when brushed by General Sussex. Raced wide
without cover throughout.
General Sussex - laid in rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.
Valle Noce - laid in throughout. Held up rounding the home turn
King Joffer (NZ) - rider Steven Arnold reported that the gelding did not feel right in its action and laid
inwards in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 3 - BETTER SOLAR 3YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1600 metres:
Bush Wacker - began awkwardly and lost ground.
Cupid - raced wide from the 800m.
Aljamaal - raced greenly throughout. Near the 200m was disappointed for a run to the inside of
Aristocratic and as a result had to be checked. Approaching the winning post eased to avoid the heels of
Aristocratic which shifted out.
Antagonistic - laid inwards in the home straight.
Desert Tycoon - rider Brad Rawiller could offer no explanation for the poor performance and a post race
veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and Stewards will follow up with the stable in
the coming days.
Race 4 - WINNING EDGE PRESENTATIONS 0-58 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:
Sincemybableftme - underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course and was passed suitable
to race.
Bullseye - laid out from the 700m.
Our Jovanna - raced wide from the 700m. Rider Darren Gauci reported in his opinion the mare would be
better suited on a track with more give. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any
abnormalities.
Keep The Magic (NZ) - laid out under pressure from the 200m until the winning post.
Elusive Shine - laid out under pressure in the straight.
Race 5 - TOBIN BROTHERS 0-58 HANDICAP (1) - 1400 metres:
The Unexpected - bounded on jumping and lost ground.
Tunisia Traveller - raced wide without cover from the 1000m.
Stay Sharp - tightened and raced in restricted room after passing the 1000m when Maximum Overdrive
(Adam McCabe) shifted in; Adam McCabe was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift
ground when not fully clear. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary
examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and trainer Mr Glen Thornton advised the gelding would
now spelled.
Dangerpet - made heavy contact with the running rail passing the 900m when racing in restricted room to
the inside of Maximum Overdrive.
Maximum Overdrive - raced wide until passing the 800m.
Race 6 - COMMUNITY CLUBS DAY 19/2 0-58 HANDICAP (2) - 1400 metres:
Faraja - second placegetter; prior to correct weight Stewards viewed the film on behalf of connections
before deciding not to lodge an objection. Held up rounding the home turn and when attempting to obtain
clear running shifted out and bumped with Delightful Son.
Micks Gift - underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course and was passed suitable to race.
Bounded on jumping and lost considerable ground and failed to muster speed and trailed the field
throughout. Trainer Mr Neil Robb was advised a warning will be placed against the gelding and that any
nominations for anything other than picnic races would be declined.
Buzz Punch - began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered Colour Me Grey. Laid inwards in the home
straight.
Colour Me Grey - hampered on jumping away and lost ground. Rider Dale Smith reported that his
surcingle broke near the 100m; the Stewards inspected the gear after the race and it was found to be in
satisfactory condition.
King Deano - raced wide without cover throughout. When giving ground passing the 200m had to be
momentarily steadied when Cashmia (Dylan Dunn) shifted in; Dylan Dunn was advised to exercise more
care when shifting ground.
Sovngarde - rider Brad Rawiller reported that after working harder than anticipated to take up a forward
position from the wide gate in the early stages, failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure.
Trainer Mr Saab Hasan reported the gelding returned with its tongue over the bit and he may take the
blinkers off for next start. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was making a
respiratory noise and must undergo a satisfactory endoscopic examination prior to racing again.
Cashmia - trainer Ms Sue Naylor was questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance and
she stated that the mare was not suited to the speed in its first up form a spell performance on January 7th
,
and at two starts prior to that the mare had trained off. She further stated the mare was back in class and
up in distance and was better suited today.
Race 7 - TAB BM64 HANDICAP - 1100 metres:
Ecology - slow to begin. Held up from the 400m until approaching the 200m. laid in under pressure in the
home straight.
Lardie Lass - raced wide without cover from the 800m.
Sergeant Hightower - when questioned in relation to his tactics today, as at its most recent start settled in
a forward position, rider Daniel Moor stated that his instructions were to ride the gelding where it felt
comfortable and after beginning well from its wide gate, was of the belief he would gain cover however
after being caught wide he elected to restrain to gain cover at the rear of the field. Stewards noted his
explanation. Trainer Ms Alison Sheehan advised that she did not give Daniel Moor instructions today, as
the gelding was back in distance and had a crossover noseband on, however may have been suited to
todays strong tempo in front which allowed the gelding to get further back before running on late.
Tapestry Vision - rider Jack Hill could offer no explanation and stated the gelding had worked well
during the week and was very disappointing today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal
any abnormalities.
Race 8 - THE TIGERS CLUBHOUSE 0-58 HANDICAP - 1600 metres:
Mohini (NZ) - late withdrawal at 9.44am by order of Stewards when it was established the mare had not
been withdrawn by the prescribed time and an inquiry has been adjourned into the matter.
Ionlythinkofyou - held up rounding the home turn before obtaining an inside run when Sinoque laid out.
Madog - held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight before shifting over the heels
of Sinoque to obtain clear running.
Brooklyn Bridge - laid inwards under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination
revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing
again.
Beautiful Assassin - settled at the rear; rider Craig Newitt stated that after being slow into stride and due
to the strong early pace he settled further back than anticipated.
Trial Ground - settled behind the leader; rider Michael Carson was questioned regarding settling closer
today and he stated it was no this intention to do so however after beginning well settled further forward
than anticipated.
Sinoque - led today; rider Ben Thompson was questioned in relation to being further forward than its
most recent starts, and he stated it was his intention to find a position mid-field with cover, however after
being caught wide he elected to permit his mount to stride forward and lead passing the 1200m.
