In the first scene above, we see Kwon Jiyong rising from the ruins. Ruins of what, you may ask? We shall find out later. A few more shots are juxtaposed, such as this pendulum below, which represents a time bomb.

We then see a long-haired and scary G-dragon below singing under a pendulum, which tells us he is under time constraint, pressured by the ticking time bomb. He is calm through it all, as if he knows there is more to the bomb blasting.

After a few interchanges of shots between G-dragon under a pendulum, and Kwon Jiyong rising from the ruins, we are led to watch this adorable young man.

Page 3: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

We see this young dreamer with such handsome innocence. What’s heartbreaking is we also see this boy looking at his very own tomb, wearing a red glove.

Page 4: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

And then we find out that this boy wearing the red glove is actually the innocent Kwon Jiyong witnessing his own death. This is proven by the grown-up Jiyong we see below, who is also wearing the same red glove.

Why is baby Ji looking at his tomb? What led to his death? We shall find out one by one. Because essentially, this video is about G-dragon's death, and Kwon Jiyong's rise from the dead.

Now G-dragon's death begins. First, we are shown beautiful and sexy women wearing alluring reddresses and hats, all of them have their eyes covered with the glamorous red hats. Who are they?

Obviously, they represent the different women surrounding the superstar G-dragon. Models, actresses, singers. Their luxurious dresses, hats, and make-up tell us these women are celebrities, just in the same lime light as G-dragon. They love him. The adore him. They worship him. But theydon't see him. The fact that they are truly blind about what's deep inside Kwon Jiyong causes G-dragon's slow and painful death, as evident by his broken and bleeding heart below.

G-dragon's first death: beautiful women who do not see him for who he is.

G-dragon's death continues. Second, we see him peeking through the hole of a theater box office below. This represents him being inside a world providing spectators the ticket to a spectacle they are excited to watch. This also symbolizes him selling his tickets for the G-dragon show.

Page 7: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

But in this next shot, we see the box office being focused, and the spectators only see the “eye” of G-dragon, not his face, not his body, not his real being. The spectators, or the fans, do not see him.

Then, we get a view of what's happening inside the box office below. This shows G-dragon surrounded by different old-school radio boxes, motion picture rollers and multi-media consoles. He controls the shows, and the shadows of the obsessive worshippers are seen lurking on the background, trying to get inside the box office.

G-dragon's second death: the fans, and the burden of leading the G-dragon show. Now we are thenled to his third death.

Page 9: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

Above, we see an unrecognizable woman hidden in the confines of a protective umbrella. Who is she? We do not know yet. We only see that she and G-dragon are separated.

We see G-dragon situated beside a tree below. What kind of tree? This is supposedly a persimmontree, the tree of transformation, of growth, of wisdom, of health. But up close, we see that the persimmons are instead toxic fruits, and the tree is drying.... dying.

Page 10: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

www.twitter.com/talkaboutkpop25

It is raining endlessly, and G-dragon is still separated from the unknown woman. This tells us thatthe transformation, instead of being a healthy journey to wisdom, is only making G-dragon weak and unable, rooted to the ground, unable to grow, thus unable to stand up and walk towards the woman. Who is the woman? She is Kwon Jiyong's true love, someone he couldn't be with because of his inability to walk towards her, because of the rain, because of the toxic persimmon fruits.

G-dragon's third death: being unable to be with the woman he loves, only protecting her from afar.

Next, we see a pot of boiling water above, cooking money. What is it? This is G-dragon churning money by simply being G-dragon. We see G-dragon simply sitting in a table below, surrounded by boiling pots, as if money is just being cooked easily around him as he sat.

Page 12: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

www.twitter.com/talkaboutkpop25

To me, this is music. G-dragon's trying to tell us he cooks his music, he cooks money, and to him it is easy. This is especially evident by him acting lazy below. For him, making music is the easy part of making money.

Page 13: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

But then, we see this G-dragon being crazy and psychotic in this chair, a different room:

Page 14: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

www.twitter.com/talkaboutkpop25

This shows G-dragon in a chair inside a backstage dressing room. He is surrounded by make-up luggages with built in lights. Everything is lighting up, flashing, and this is making him bipolar andcrazy, bringing out the monster in him.

G-dragon's fourth death: the glitz and glamor of fame.

Page 15: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

www.twitter.com/talkaboutkpop25

This fourth death is further emphasized by the photo above. This is G-dragon with his eyes masked, putting his eyes (which represents his soul) merely in the background. The backdrop painting is an eye, crying. That is Kwon Jiyong's soul being put in the backdrop as he stands up to the world as G-dragon.

And this photo below shows Kwon Jiyong in a ninja mask, showing only his eyes, and hiding the face of G-dragon. As Kwon Jiyong, he is choosing to put his eyes and soul out, and put his face in the background. The backdrop painting shows many faces, representing the many faces of G-dragon being put in the backburner whenever he chooses to be Kwon Jiyong,

This means he can't be both G-dragon AND Kwon Jiyong. He always has to sacrifice one or the other.

And this leads us to his fifth, and final, death. As shown below, we see G-dragon surrounded by reporters, eyes all masked. This symbolizes the media blindly reporting about his life without actually seeing who he truly is.

G-dragon's fifth and final death: the media's screwed-up image of him.

Page 19: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

With all those five different deaths, we see G-dragon below, struggling to breathe, weak on the ground. He is surrounded by crows, a symbol of death. He is not yet truly dead, but slowly and painfully, he is about to surrender life.

The scene cuts through the many face masks of G-dragon below, representing him during the Heartbreaker Era. This image of G-dragon has become iconic to be for the scandal-ridden year 2009.

Page 21: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

www.twitter.com/talkaboutkpop25

He is crying out black tears, spilling all over.

Page 22: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

www.twitter.com/talkaboutkpop25

These black tears represent what's inside G-dragon. In the image below, we see that inside this white mask, we see a very black G-dragon.

Black represents what's inside: sadness, loneliness, pain, heartbreak, depression. And this blackness is oozing out. G-dragon is broken, dead

Page 23: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

www.twitter.com/talkaboutkpop25

But he wants to break away from sadness, from death, from blackness. And so he removes and shatters his mask, leaving the Heartbreaker era behind. In fact, it's not just the Heartbreaker era. He is breaking and leaving behind the whole scandal-ridden persona of G-dragon.

Page 24: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

He breaks G-dragon's face, symbolizing him leaving G-dragon behind. The time bomb has stopped, and he breaks free:

Page 25: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

www.twitter.com/talkaboutkpop25

G-dragon's face, mind, and soul, is dead and broken.

This brings us back to the beginning, where Kwon Jiyong was rising up from the ruins. Now we know these are the ruins of G-dragon's death.

Page 28: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

He gets up from the ruins and breaks free, even from the skins of his death. He wants nothing, not even an inch of an skin, from his old self.

Page 29: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

www.twitter.com/talkaboutkpop25

He breaks the wall separating his death and the new world.

Now we see a handsome G-dragon, still wearing the same white and black hair, still carrying the same glamor, but now with a shorter hair. A new G-dragon, alive from death.

Page 30: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

www.twitter.com/talkaboutkpop25

He is still G-dragon, only better, only less black. More handsome, cleaner, more in peace.

Page 31: G-dragon's Coup D' Etat MV Symbolisms

www.twitter.com/talkaboutkpop25

This is his Coup D' Etat, shattering the walls of death and rising from the fall of pretentious women who broke his heart, from the burdening expectations of the fans, from the pains of being away from his true love, from the pressure of the glitz and glamour of fame, and the scrutinizing blind media.

Now we see a Red Ninja, proudly raising red flags. The color of passion. The color of strength. The color of courage. The color of Coup D' Etat. The color of G-dragon.
