• What are Geographical Indications?

“…….Indications which identify a good as originating in the territory of a Member, or a region or locality in that territory, where a given quality, reputation or other characteristic of the good is essentially attributable to its geographical origin.” (Article 22 of TRIPS Agreement)

Regulations

• All phases of production must be completed within the area of origin (map)

• The producer (stakeholder) should at least have 5-10 years of experience recognised by the committee.

• The quality of the end product to be certified by the committee
