Dear Members,  Thank you to all our members that turned up for ourbusy bee on Sunday. It was a great success and we areall ready for the new season! Thanks guys for all yourhard work!  We have our new member night coming up on the 12thOctober 2018 from 6pm. YOUTH PROGRAMStart date for all Youth -7th October 2018 Time - 9am Meet at grassed area by courtyard Please have water bottles, towels , bathers, rashies, sunscreen andgreen and white competition cap. New members, you need to purchase a green and white competitioncap from the uniform shop. New members - your SRC course starts thefollowing weekend 14th October so make sure you are getting in thepool now and getting some laps in, you will be required to do a timed200 meter ocean swim. All youth, you will be receiving a weekly youth specific email detailingactivities for the week from our liason Officer Kylie Bird Milne, makesure you look out for it to keep up to date. We have our first beach carnival coming up on Sat 6 October atSorrento!! It will be run by us beachies and coaches and will be a good first hit outof the season! At the moment looks to be a 8:30 marshalling but we will need to setup the track so any parents who can help while the team warms up thatwould be great! If you would like more information on youth, please see the last coupleof newsletter on our website. This has training session times and whatis coming up for the season.  Chris Crowley

LIFESAVING Lifesaving – with Laurie and Shelley With the start of the patrol season on a few weeks away, the Beachcommittee would like to thank our members who will once againvolunteer their time at our great beach. We rely on our wonderful volunteers for support to patrol the beach &maintain a safe environment to the public. Members who want to learn lifesaving skills & be a part of our greatteam, there are courses available to you all at any level. Queries forthose interested can be emailed to education@sorrentoslsc.org.au Patrols – with Leif The first patrol for the season is the 20th October and note that theroster is available on the club website & patrol board. The patrol teams are finalised and should be available in the nextweek. This year, to allow us to build accurate patrol teams, members havebeen asked to email through their intention of returning to patrol. Wewill build teams based on your confirmation. This is also a chance torequest a change of patrol team. Thank you to those members who have already responded. For thosewho haven’t, if you can email the office.

LIFESAVING EDUCATION – with Stephen BRONZE COURSES Pre-Xmas Bronze course details below.  If you wish to join any of thesecourse, please contact the office to register and pay the course fee. Each course will only go ahead if we have sufficient people registeredto justify running the course.  To do any Bronze course you need to bea financial member of the club and at least 15 years of age on the dateof the assessment.  Any questions, please emaileducation@sorrentoslsc.org.au Bronze courses are great fun, teach amazing lifesaving skills & open upfor more volunteering and social possibilities within the club. October School Holiday Bronze This course is primarily aimed at the competition youth group whoneed to get their Bronze prior to the competition season.  The course isopen to others, you just need to be able to keep up!! This course runs Monday 1st October to Sunday 7th October.  Therewill be a morning session (8:30 - 10:30am) and an evening session(6:30 - 9pm) each day during the week with assessments at theweekend.   November Bronze This course will start early November and run for 8 to 9 weeks.  Therewill be a session every Tuesday night and Saturday morning.  Timingsto be arranged.

LIFESAVING SRC COURSES Additionally, the club runs a Surf Rescue Certificate courses numeroustimes per year.  Details below of the pre-Xmas SRC.  To do any SRCcourse you need to be a financial member of the club and at least 13years of age on the date of the assessment. SRC Youth October This course is focussed on the Youth group and will start once nippersare back in action but is open to anyone.  Runs for approx. 6 weeks. Sunday morning sessions, theory and practical, with optionalWednesday water sessions for extra training. REQUALS The requal sessions for Bronze and SRC will be in November.  We willhold these sessions on the Saturday and Sunday of all 4 weekends inNovember.  This gives you 8 opportunities to get your requals done.  More details to follow. Requals for Advanced Resuscitation will be held in October andNovember with specific dates to be advised. Requals for Pain Management will be held in October with specificdates to be advised.

COMPETITION From Youth through to Masters everyone of our club members areentitled to have a go at Rowing. If you have a group of friends or are onyour own now is the perfect time to have a go and be part of the oldesttradition in Surf Lifesaving . Conditions do apply if you want to compete and that can be discussedas we go along . Have a go days will be arranged for Saturday and Sunday morning starting after the A F L  and Rugby League grand finals are finished . Any questions can be made to Watto on 0419 471 470 .
